As part of our contribution to the local community, KCGM engages in educational activities for schools, students and the wider community. Along with attending educational events and visiting schools, we provide free site tours for local schools.
During the tour, you will get an inside view of our mining operations while learning about one of Australia’s largest and highest producing gold mines. The bus takes you through the KCGM Black Street security gates past the mine site offices, Fimiston Mill, Workshop Yard and to an internal lookout on the South Eastern side of the Super Pit. At the internal lookout, passengers are able to get out of the bus and view the operation from a different perspective than from the public lookout.
Please note that it is a requirement that all passengers wear long sleeves, long pants and fully enclosed shoes for the tour. Children must be 4 years and over.
To apply for a school tour, please contact our tour provider, Kalgoorlie Tours and Charters, on firstname.lastname@example.org or 9021 2211, or contact KCGM External Relations on email@example.com or 9022 1100.

Hannans North Tourist Mine
Once you have seen the working mine, round out your trip with a visit to Hannans North Tourist Mine. The rejuvenated Hannans North tourist attraction (formerly known as the Mining Hall of Fame) provides a great day out for locals, families, school groups, and visitors to Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
KCGM, as major sponsor, took on the role of caretaker of Hannans North Tourist Mine in 2012 after the Mining Hall of Fame closed. Since then, the team at Hannans North has been reopening the site in stages. The current phase of renovations sees a series of exhibits being refurbished and reopened.
