Drill & Blast and Ancillary Superintendent

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking a Drill & Blast and Ancillary Superintendent to join the Open Pit Mining Department at the Superpit in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

The purpose the role is to provide strategic and operational leadership to the KCGM Open Pits by efficiently directing and monitoring the Drill & Blast and Ancillary activities in the Fimiston Open Pit to ensure that production targets are achieved in a timely and safe manner within the guidelines of statutory requirements and standards. This residential role is a 5 on 2 off then 4 on 3 off fortnightly day roster.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Lead the Drill & Blast and Ancillary teams to ensure effective supervision, planning, and communication.
  • Ensure statutory requirements of explosive management are implemented and maintained.
  • Participate in the production planning process and oversee operations are in compliance to the mine plans.
  • Ensure the effective interaction and communication with key stakeholders to achieve the business objectives.
  • Effective management of contractors and service providers.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • 3 – 5 years’ experience as a Superintendent in a large open pit mining operation
  • 10+ years supervisory experience in large open pit operations with 2 years working in Drill and Blast
  • Tertiary Qualification in engineering or similar discipline
  • Working knowledge of statutory regulations relevant to safety, blasting and the environment for the mining industry
  • Strong working knowledge of operational budget and cost control
  • Exposure to strategic business planning processes including budgeting, capital purchases and cost management
  • Strong analytical skills, with a focus on Continuous Improvement
  • Proven track record in leading large teams & track record of leading by example
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence

Preferred

  • Unrestricted Quarry Managers Certificate

Underground Mechanical Fitter

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking experienced Underground Mobile Plant Mechanics to join the Underground Mining team at Mt Charlotte. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This residential role will be responsible for undertaking preventative and breakdown maintenance of the underground mobile plant fleet, ensuring maximum availability for production. This is a 5:2 days/4:3 nights roster.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Complete scheduled maintenance of mobile plant to ensure availability of fleet, as indicated by the mining and maintenance schedules. The mobile plant fleet currently consists of Toyota Light Vehicle’s CAT/Elphinstone 2900 and 1700 Loaders; CAT 12G Grader, CAT Integrated Toolcarriers, Atlas Copco M7C & M2D/352 Twin Boom Jumbos, and Atlas Copco MT5010 & MT6020 Trucks.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults of mobile plant both in the workshop and in the field to ensure availability of mobile plant as defined in the mining schedule.
  • Submit completed daily maintenance reports including, but not limited to, service reports, time sheets and down time sheets to ensure accurate reflection of mobile plant availability and maintenance service utilization.
  • Maintain a hazard free repair bay and workshop by ensuring daily clean ups are conducted, in an attempt to reduce the number of hazards in the workplace.
  • Communicate maintenance requirements to the Supervisor and or Maintenance Planner in a timely manner to ensure sufficient notice is provided for parts ordering.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Australian-recognized Trade in Automotive Mechanical, Plant Mechanic or Heavy Duty Diesel Fitting
  • Minimum five (5) years post trade experience in the heavy duty fitting field
  • Minimum two (2) years heavy duty fitting experience in an underground mine
  • Demonstration of Intermediate computer literacy skills, especially in Oracle/SAP and Excel
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning, time management and organisational skills
  • National Police Clearance within twelve (12) months of age
  • Must reside within the Goldfields region.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.

Preferred

  • Nationally Accredited Forklift Licence.
  • Elevated Work Platform Certificate.
  • Dogging Certificate.

Supply Chain Superintendent

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking a Supply Chain Superintendent to join the Services team in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This is a residential role based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Western Australia and involves working primarily in an office based environment at KCGM’s Fimiston site on a 5:2/4:3 day roster.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Create a culture of trust, accountability and continuous improvement within the Supply Chain team that overall reflects KCGM’s values and provides consistent team function and development.
  • Set tasks, expectations and allocate resources to the team to meet business needs.
  • Develop and optimise systems, processes, and initiatives to improve financial performance and reporting;
  • Lead the supply chain function, including the provision of expert commercial advice, to ensure that business objectives are met and all relevant policies and legal obligations are adhered to.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Services Department strategic planning and related initiatives.
  • Identify and lead mitigation of supply chain related risks that have the potential to impact KCGM.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Formal qualifications in warehousing, inventory, materials management or equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience in a senior supply chain leadership role
  • Successful optimisation of systems, processes, and initiatives to continuously improve supply chain performance
  • Proven experience in leading, developing and providing advice on organisational wide procurement strategy, negotiating and managing major and/or complex contracts for the organisation
  • Strong business acumen and awareness of business risk, understanding of cost drivers, and applying interpretation and communication regarding risks to the wider business

Finance and Business Improvement Superintendent

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking a Finance and Business Improvement Superintendent to join the Services team in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This role is based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Western Australia and involves working primarily in an office based environment at KCGM’s Fimiston site on a 5:2/4:3 day roster.

Occasional field work will be required as part of the role and the incumbent will also be required to travel occasionally to other areas of KCGM and Newmont work areas.

Key Accountabilities may include:

  • Provide effective leadership to the areas of finance, information technology and business improvement to deliver budgets, forecasts, reports, information technology support, and business improvement support, including support of the Full Potential program.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring and direction for the Finance and Business Improvement team.
  • Meet business conformance and government compliance in a timely manner to optimise decision making; partnering with operational functions to increase business value and manage risks.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Economics, Business and/or similar discipline is required
  • 8 years’ experience in a senior Finance and/or Business Improvement leadership role including leading teams

  • Preparation for and participation in systems and data compliance audits

THE ROLE

This role is based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Western Australia and involves working primarily in an office based environment at KCGM’s Fimiston site on a 5:2/4:3 day roster.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Oversee the business development of Hannans North Tourist Mine; ensuring strategies are developed that align with KCGM’s business.
  • Maintain relationships and liaise with KCGM management and staff, local media, regulatory agencies, industry bodies and community groups ensuring a positive relationships and company profile. Develop and manage associated community partnerships.
  • Provide guidance and support for the implementation of the KCGM Standards for Community Relations, Newmont Social Responsibility standards and applicable aspects of the Newmont Integrated Management System standards ensuring all activities are aligned.
  • Strategically coordinate external relations activities based on community research and feedback in alignment with the site strategic plan.
  • Create a culture of trust, accountability and continuous improvement within the External Relations team; one that overall reflects KCGM’s values and provides consistent team function.
  • Supervise, coach and mentor the External Relations team to ensure their ongoing professional and personal development

This is a residential role on a 5:2/4:3 roster.

We are looking for an effective leader to deliver quality services and continuous improvement in the areas of health, hygiene, safety, security and emergency response at KCGM. The position is accountable for providing leadership, coaching, mentoring and direction for the Health, Safety and Security (HS&S) team.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Develop and optimise systems, processes, and initiatives to improve HS&S performance.
  • Create a culture of trust, accountability and continuous improvement within the HS&S team; one that overall reflects KCGM’s values and provides consistent team function.
  • Supervise, coach and mentor the HS&S team to ensure their ongoing professional and personal development.
  • Provide guidance and support for the implementation of the KCGM Standards for HS&S, Newmont HS&S standards and applicable aspects of the Newmont Integrated Management System standards, ensuring all activities are aligned, including with Business Partners.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Services Department strategic planning and related initiatives.

Planning & Strategy Supervisor - Mobile Maintenance

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking a Planning & Strategy Supervisor to join the Mining department for the Superpit in Kalgoorlie.  KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This 5:2/4:3 -rostered position will be responsible for leading a small team of planners/schedulers with-in the Mobile Maintenance team, the Planning and Strategy Supervisor will ensure all aspects of the mobile maintenance plan are achieved within budget and cost KPI’s. The Planning and Strategy Supervisor will produce weekly/monthly reports on planning KPI’s and carry out GAP analysis to continuous improvement. The Planning and Strategy Supervisor will play a key role in developing the maintenance strategy for all Open Pit fleet, including Cat 793 Haul trucks, Komatsu PC8000 dig units, multiple Ancillary units, and Light vehicles. Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Superintendent, the Planning and Strategy Supervisor will provide leadership through coaching, mentoring and developmental activities to members of the team driving a positive workplace culture that reflects KCGM’s Values.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Australian Trade Qualification
  • Minimum of eight (8) years in the mining or heavy industry
  • Strong working knowledge of Maintenance Planning and CMMS with minimum of two (2) years in a similar role
  • Experience using budgeting tools and solid knowledge whole life cycle cost modelling
  • Previous experience in strategic planning for mobile equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems and identify potential solutions by thinking outside of the box to deliver alternative outcomes
  • Leadership and/or supervisory training. Exposure to performance management of team members using ability to coach, mentor and influence others.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills enabling liaison at all levels of the organisation
  • Reside locally within the Goldfields region, or willing to relocate
  • National Police Clearance – valid within the last twelve (12) months
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.

Business Officer

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking a Business Officer to join the Services Department at the Superpit mine in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This position will provide accounting services and advice to onsite departments to optimise decision making, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with applicable standards and support the budget, forecast and capital investment processes.

This is a residential role on a 5:2/4:3 roster.

Key tasks may involve:

  • Assist with month end accounting processes including transaction review, cost review, cost reporting and trend analysis.
  • Assist Operating Departments and Business Analysts with capital requests, including Authorisation for Expenditure and Investment Evaluation Module preparation.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual site wide budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Prepare royalty, Goods and Services Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax returns to ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements.
  • Participate in regular audits with both Joint Venture Owners and external auditors, to ensure adherence to internal and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain the capital module within Oracle including Work Breakdown Structures and end of month reconciliations.
  • Maintain supplier details within Oracle including setting up new vendors and updating or vendor information.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register within Oracle.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • At least two (2) years experience in a similar position
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, or study towards a financial qualification
  • Experience in the preparation of end of month reports
  • A sound understanding of statutory compliance, particularly in relation to FBT, Tax, Diesel Rebate, GST and BAS
  • High level of computer literacy in the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel)
  • Experience in the development, analysis and amendment of budgets and forecasts
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.

  • Previous accounting experience preferably within the Mining Industry

Business Analyst

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking a Business Analyst to join the Services Department at the Superpit mine in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This is a residential role on a 5:2/4:3 roster.

Key tasks may involve:

  • Prepare month end accounting reports and presentations to assist in cost analysis and control.
  • Collate end of month reports, including interpretation and investigation of any anomalies within the data, to ensure that both internal and external reporting requirements are met.
  • Assist in the development and review of departmental annual budgets and regular forecasts, and ensure that they are accurate and achievable.

Senior Shutdown Planner

THE ROLE

KCGM is seeking an experienced Senior Shutdown Planner to join the Engineering & Maintenance Team for the Fimiston and Mt Charlotte Circuits.

This residential role will oversee the activities of the shutdown planners and ensure that all maintenance activities undertaken within the plant shutdowns are properly planned (resources, parts, equipment, tooling), sequenced and scheduled so that the work progresses in a safe, organized, timely and cost efficient manner. This is to minimize shutdown downtime and also ensure plant reliability between shuts, whilst also meeting the maintenance budget.

This is a 5:2/4:3 day roster.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Ensure that all incidents and accidents are reported and are followed up correctly to minimize and manage risk and attend investigations where required, ensuring that the Occupational Health and Safety Act is complied with at all times.
  • Ensure all reasonable steps are taken to assist in identifying and providing an injured employee with suitable duties whilst they are on a return to work plan.
  • Review shutdown PM’s as part of ongoing continuous improvement ensuring all PMs have clear purpose in assessing component condition and preventing failures.
  • Maintain a two year rolling shutdown plan and make adjustments when necessary, to optimise/maximize plant availability.
  • Ensure the shutdown team monitor and measure mill liner wear and provide data to Reliability Engineering to optimise timing and scheduling of shutdowns.
  • Liaise with Site Planners, Engineering and Process operations to ensure that all shutdown work orders are planned and ready to be scheduled in a timely manner prior to a shutdown.
  • Liaise with Maintenance and Operations Superintendents to ensure all shutdown work (including ramp down, ramp up and recommissioning) is safely, effectively and efficiently executed, including the completion of all planned scopes of work.
  • Facilitate the shutdown work order review meetings and obtain final approval for work to be included within a shutdown. Review the shutdown schedule (Gantt chart) that coordinates and sequences work in order to optimise and minimize the shutdown duration while not compromising safety or plant reliability.
  • Coordinate shutdown contractor labour, security clearances and site inductions to ensure adequate workforce personnel for plant shutdowns.
  • Ensure we provide shutdown contractors with scopes of work, in a timely manner, prior to commencement of a shutdown and meet directly with the contractors to establish an understanding of priorities and critical path activities.
  • Communicate with Production any operational requirements such as isolations, permits and cleaning to ensure areas are prepared and ready for the shutdown.
  • Liaise with Supply and Maintenance Planners to ensure that all parts are available for all shutdown activities, prior to the commencement of the shutdown.
  • Facilitate rigorous cost management, specifically through optimized shutdown planning, adherence to supply policy, and contractor management to ensure all shutdown financial information is captured for review and forecast purposes.
  • Oversee all proximity, isolations, labour and equipment (P.I.L.E.) during a shutdown to ensure safety and minimize unnecessary downtime.
  • Monitor and track progress of the shutdown and update the schedule (Gantt chart) and report any issues to key stakeholders ongoing throughout the shutdown process to ensure accurate and transparent information is communicated.
  • Facilitate pre and post shutdown meetings with key site personnel and contractors. Prepare a shutdown report detailing all costs and time frames for every shutdown. Prepare shutdown KPIs for each shut.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Five (5) years practical experience in a maintenance environment, preferably in mining/minerals processing
  • Minimum of Two (2 ) years experience with computer-based maintenance planning and scheduling
  • MS Office Suite (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS Outlook)
  • Ability to diagnose problems and identify potential solutions by thinking outside of the box delivering alternative outcomes.

This role leads a team of Activity Supervisors and Project Engineers to ensure that the KCGM projects portfolio is delivered safely, within scope, on budget and satisfies all necessary standards and statutory requirements. This is a residential role on a 5:2/4:3 roster.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Continuously improve safety performance and culture: Lead by example, implement and monitor adherence to mandated safety systems, coach Senior and Supervisory staff on safety leadership.
  • Support the preparation of the annual Life of Mine (LOM) capital plan ensuring it is submitted and approved, with all AFE’s submitted in accordance with the annual capital submission schedule.
  • Provide assistance to other departments to develop AFEs.
  • Develop and manage the Project Engineering operating budget.
  • Ensure all projects are completed within scope, on or below budget and meet all standards, policies and statutory requirements. All variations to scope, schedule and budget must be documented and approved.
  • Monitor the performance of the Project Engineering function. Identify improvement opportunities and support their implementation.

Responsible for engaging suitably qualified contractors to undertake work and ensuring contracts are initiated and administered to meet KCGM standards and procedures

KCGM, is currently seeking a Senior Medium Term Mine Planning Engineer to join the Mine Technical & Projects team in Kalgoorlie to coordinate the development of short to medium term mine plans for the Fimiston Open Pit operations, ensuring conformance with regional and corporate business planning objectives.   • Developing medium term mine plans based on a “zero-based” approach using Deswik mine planning software in support of business planning and reserve reporting activities.
  • Developing, updating and communicating the 3 monthly medium term plans regularly for the short term planning group.
  • Managing the Mine Project Engineer function to ensure that projects are scoped, developed, and implemented as required by stakeholders in support of the operation’s continuous improvement.
  • Providing monthly planning guidance to Scheduling Engineers.
  • Providing support to Long Term Engineers during budget and reserve planning periods.
  • Reviewing and approving variances to plans as required by the short term engineering to ensure a sound understanding of the incremental value/cost.
  • Preparing or overseeing capital justifications and estimations for the Mining Department to ensure budget inputs reflect forecasts and to maximize the value of current assets.

Senior Geotechnical Engineer

THE ROLE

KCGM, is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the Mine Technical & Projects team in Kalgoorlie.

The role will be responsible for leading the delivery of effective and safe production related Open Pit Geotechnical services, to ensure the safe achievement of budget and Life of Mine (LOM) targets.

This residential role involves working primarily in an office based environment at KCGM’s Fimiston site on a day roster. Regular field work and in-field supervision and observation will be required as part of the role. The incumbent will be required to coordinate and assist with on-call geotechnical responsibilities.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Lead a team of Geotechnical Engineers and Technicians to ensure that production-related Pit Geotechnical duties are executed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Also assist and supervise Geotechnical project Engineers to deliver project outcomes in the time frames required.
  • Coordinate and execute the Open Pit slope management programme, in accordance with the Fimiston Ground Control Management Plan, to ensure the identification of and neutralisation of slope hazards.
  • Supervise the coordination and execution of the Open Pit ground support programme to ensure the provision of stable ground support.
  • Design, implement and monitor Geotechnical systems and processes to ensure that they continue to add value by providing an acceptable risk profile for the business.
  • Assist the Geotechnical Superintendent in ensuring delivery of relevant training, coaching, and other on-the-job support to the Geotechnical Department to ensure ongoing professional development and the creation and maintenance of appropriate succession pools.
  • Prepare Statutory and other technical reports as required to ensure the provision of accurate Geotechnical data for subsequent review.
  • Oversee Open Pit operational safety from a Geotechnical perspective, in order to meet safety and corporate compliance.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • A minimum five (5) years experience in a Geotechnical role within multiple open cut operations.
  • Experience with Vulcan and Rocscience software packages.
  • A minimum two (2) years experience in a Geotechnical supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of Geotechnical open pit slope monitoring techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in Geotechnical open pit ground support.
  • A tertiary qualification (minimum degree level) in Mine Engineering / Geology with appropriate Geotechnical experience.

  • Lead by example, understand and implement the safety systems, safety culture action plan and safety processes to protect the maintenance human and equipment resources required to execute the mining schedule.
  • Develop and implement an Asset Maintenance Strategy for Mt. Charlotte mobile, fixed plant and electrical functions which supports the Maintenance Supervisors ability to execute maintenance activities to expectations.

Process Technician

THE ROLE

As a Process Technician, you will undertake daily general plant activities in the Fimiston Mineral Processing Plant and Gidji Operations. This will include monitoring and maintaining assigned operations and equipment within the plants to optimize circuit availability and gold recovery, safely and efficiently.

This is a 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off roster (4:4).

Key accountabilities include:

  • Maintain constant surveillance of assigned work stations to ensure effective and efficient operations of the plant in a safe manner.
  • Report all mechanical and electrical problems to the Shift Supervisor and Process Controller to ensure safe operation of the plant and to maintain productivity.
  • Conduct clean-up duties where required to ensure plant equipment is functioning properly and safely.
  • Perform basic reactive maintenance on plant equipment to ensure productivity is maintained.
  • Assist in the review of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure they are reflective of work performed and required.
  • Collect and record routine readings and analyse samples within the plant for Quality Assurance Quality Control (QAQC) purposes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in a similar Process technician or Utilities technician position
  • Current Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets within two (2) years of age
  • Metalliferous Mining qualifications or study thereto highly regarded

THE ROLE

Provide strategic and operational leadership to the KCGM Processing team. Efficiently manage the Analysis and Improvement team to optimize the short and long term performance of the Gidji and Fimiston Processing Plants to maximize gold production and recovery.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Exposure to large milling circuits incorporating flotation and leaching
  • A demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and influence others

Engineering and Maintenance Services Superintendent

THE ROLE

This residential role is responsible for efficiently managing and providing leadership to the Maintenance Planning & Scheduling, Shutdown Planning, Classified Plant and the Reliability Engineering teams to ensure all performance targets for Fimiston Plant and Gidgi Plant are achieved in a coordinated, cost effective, timely and safe manner.

This is a 5:2/4:3 roster.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Provide leadership through coaching, mentoring and developmental activities to members of the team driving a positive workplace culture that reflects KCGM’s Core Values. Ensure training & succession plans are in place for the area.
  • Ensure that all incidents and accidents are reported and are followed up correctly to minimise and manage risk and oversee investigations where required, ensuring that the Occupational Health and Safety Act is complied with at all times.
  • Ensure all reasonable steps are taken to assist in identifying and providing an injured employee with suitable duties whilst they are on a return to work plan.
  • Manage the Maintenance Planning team, to ensure work flow process is maintained to enable processing plants to run to optimal levels and be well maintained, and Shut Downs are run “on time” and to planned costs.
  • Lead the team of Reliability Engineers focused on improving the reliability of the processing plants through the generation of maintenance strategies, the development of asset life plans, root cause analysis and coordinating continuous improvement initiatives. Also ensure we have accurate downtime data collected and distributed.
  • Manage the Classified Plant section to deliver site safety and legal compliance.
  • Prepare, manage and control the section budgets.
  • Review and report daily, weekly, monthly on performance to the Asset Manager to ensure that the General Manager, Joint Venture representatives and other key internal stakeholders are appropriately informed. In addition report on department performance regularly to all teams through undertaking formal performance presentations.

Mine Geologist

THE ROLE

Working a residential, family friendly roster (9:5), the Mine Geologist is responsible for delivering the optimal ore grade to the Mineral Processing Plant, through accurate identification of mineralisation, delineation of ore blocks, and supervision of extraction to minimize dilution. This includes scheduling, supervision of RC drilling programs, modelling of the resulting data, and providing technical support to the operational team during mining.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Design, schedule and oversee Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling programs to ensure provision of timely and accurate grade control data for analysis.
  • Undertake analysis, interpretation and modelling of data, including drill samples, resource definition plans and voids in order to accurately locate ore bodies and individual probe locations for the subsequent redevelopment and implementation of dig plans. As part of this process, examine Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) data and follow up on any issues with the laboratory in order to validate results used in estimation.
  • Coordinate and assist in the ore mark-up process to ensure easy identification of ore and waste blocks. In addition, provide support and training to Graduate Geologists to assist their development to becoming active members of the Grade Control team.
  • Design, implement and mark out access ways for production equipment to access blasted zones.
  • Monitor and adjust, via ore spotting, the ore extraction process to ensure the dig plan is correctly followed and minimise the risk of ore loss and ore dilution.
  • Coordinate the planning, implementation and monitoring of sample schedules to ensure accurate data is available for analysis.
  • Prepare weekly reports by collecting mining data to identify mining physicals and attainment to plan.
  • Prepare weekly grade control drilling and mining schedules with supervision from the Senior Mine Geologist.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary qualification in Geology
  • Two (2) years’ experience in an Open Pit mining environment
  • One (1) years’ experience in Grade Control
  • Underground experience is desired but not essential.
  • Experience with 3D mining software, eg Vulcan
  • Developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation
  • Sound problem solving ability

Mine Scheduling Engineer

THE ROLE

This residential position is responsible for coordinating the various stakeholders and developing the short term weekly mine schedule for Fimiston Open Pit operations to make sure all activities in the schedule are coordinated ensuring the weekly schedule is achievable and communicated.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Proactively encourage reporting of all incidents and accidents, review and monitor all incident and accident reports relevant to areas under influence. Ensure investigations and follow up actions are correctly implemented and completed to ensure that the Occupational Health and Safety Act is complied with at all times
  • Attend and chair planning and scheduling meetings with Mine Technical Services, Mine Production, Mine Operations, Mobile Maintenance and Mill Processing personnel and contribute to the achievement of production targets and continuous improvement activities.
  • The development and implementation of 24 hour production plans in line with operational targets.
  • The development and implementation of the fortnightly mine schedule in order to meet changing operational circumstances and requirements coordinate the input of off all the stakeholders contributing to the fortnightly mine schedule.
  • Develop short-term work instructions contributing to the achievement of daily and weekly Production targets.
  • Occasional pit design updates and design of pit floor roads and access point as a result of operational changes.
  • Develop and include in the weekly schedule the dumping strategy.
  • Providing guidance and input into the drill and blast and pit design processes.
  • Coordinate rehabilitation activities with the ESR Department.

REQUIREMENTS

Maintenance Technician - Electrician

THE ROLE

An exciting residential opening is now available for an enthusiastic Electrician to join our KCGM Operations. This essential position will see you performing preventative and ongoing breakdown electrical maintenance to the Mineral Processing plant to ensure the plant continues to function at optimum gold production levels. In addition, this position will see you working predominately a Monday to Friday roster, promoting work/life balance with 5 weeks annual leave per annum.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of two (2) years electrical maintenance experience in a mining environment
  • Australian “A” Grade Electrical Licence and/or endorsed Electrical Fitter/Electrician qualification.
  • Certificate IV in Instrumentation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in Telemetry Control Systems.
  • Intermediate computer skills, in particular Microsoft Office, Word.
  • Experience in the generation and recording of Work Orders.
  • Experience in the generation of Job Hazard Assessments (JHA’s) and safety observations.
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills.
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must reside locally in the Goldfields region, or be willing to relocate.
  • National Police Clearance – valid within the last twelve (12) months
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Driver Licence.

Maintenance Technician - Fitter

THE ROLE

An exciting residential opening is now available for an enthusiastic and safety-conscious fixed plant fitter to join our KCGM Operations. This essential position will see you performing preventative, scheduled and ongoing breakdown mechanical maintenance to the Mineral Processing plant (Fimiston & Gidji) to ensure the plant continues to function at optimum gold production levels. In addition, this position will see you working predominately a Monday to Friday roster, promoting work/life balance with 5 weeks annual leave per annum.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of two (2) years mechanical maintenance experience – Mine site-based preferred
  • Nationally Accredited Trades Certificate in Mechanical Fitting and/or Fitter Machining
  • High Risk Work Licences (eg LF, WP, DG, RA)
  • Confined Space and Working at Heights qualifications – valid within the last two (2) years
  • Demonstrated intermediate level of computer literacy
  • Experience in the generation and recording of Work Orders
  • Experience in the generation of Job Hazard Assessments (JHA’s) and safety observations
  • Demonstrated initiative, fault finding and problem solving skills
  • Developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Must reside locally in the Goldfields region, or be willing to relocate at own cost
  • National Police Clearance – valid within the last twelve (12) months
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Manual Drivers Licence.
