Executive Assistant (Fixed Term)

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Executive Assistant to join the dynamic leadership team at KCGM. This residential position is 12 month Fixed Term, and will be on a week-day roster of 5:2, 4:3.

KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

Reporting to the General Manager (GM), this pivotal position is responsible for a high standard of organisational support, event and activity planning and active engagement with the KCGM Senior Leadership Team (SLT) whilst ensuring a professional office is maintained at all times. Key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain the GM’s daily, weekly and monthly diary, including prioritization of key events and activities, communications and visitors whilst ensuring that all telephone calls, enquiries and requests are screened appropriately and prioritized appropriately.
  • Establish relationships with Government and Community offices, including committees to which the GM belongs, to be able to effectively communicate on behalf of the GM.
  • Prepare accurate and timely documentation such as project plans, reports, itineraries, run sheets and external submissions.
  • Communicate and liaise with employees at all levels, Business Partners, Joint-Venture owners and key external stakeholders, to ensure relevant information is provided in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and organize high level visits to site ensuring a high level of professionalism at all times to ensure KCGM maintains a highly positive reputable image.

ESSENTIAL ​REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary qualifications in business studies or significant practical experience to an equivalent level.
  • Minimum of 5 years in an administrative / secretarial role, with at least 2 years at a senior level.
  • Significant experience and demonstrated ability at an advanced level in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build positive rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organised and detail orientated, with the ability to effectively prioritize and coordinate a busy schedule in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proven experience in managing projects and planning events.

THE ROLES

KCGM is currently seeking Expressions of Interest for experienced Haul Truck operators for the Mining Open Pit Department at the Fimiston Superpit operation.

The position will see you operating 793 CATs in the open pit, working in conjunction with PC 8000 Face Shovels, Excavators and Loaders to fulfill production requirements in a safe and reliable manner.

These positions are residential and will be on a 7/7 even-time roster, working 12 hour shifts on both days and nights, providing a great work-home life balance where you could be home every night.

  • Minimum two (2) years experience operating 793’s in an Open Cut mining environment
  • Other industrial operating experience beneficial

Underground Electrical & Fixed Plant Supervisor

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Electrical & Fixed Plant Supervisor for the Mining Underground Department at the Mt Charlotte operation. This is a residential role on a 5/2:4/3 roster, working 9.5 hour days.

KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

The successful candidate will efficiently manage and coordinate all electrical and fixed plant activities to ensure availability and reliability are maximized for KCGM’s underground operation, Mt Charlotte. The range of electrical and fixed plant equipment includes, but is not limited to, underground fixed plant, ventilation, pumps, power reticulation systems, winder and communication systems.

Key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and monitor the workplace rehabilitation of any injured employee within their department/under their control.
  • Assign and monitor the daily activities of electrical and fixed plant maintenance technicians to meet production priorities.
  • Provide leadership through coaching, mentoring and support for developmental and training activities to electrical and fixed plant maintenance technicians to drive a positive workplace culture that reflects KCGM’s Core Values and ensures incumbents are competent in their assigned tasks.
  • Ensure that all work carried out in relation to electrical equipment is supervised and installed, tested and maintained in a safe working condition in accordance with KCGM safety standards and legislative and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain the electrical, winder engine and winder rope log books so that all information that is required is recorded correctly to ensure compliance with the Mines Safety and Regulations Act.
  • Report any significant occurrences to the Mt Charlotte Superintendent that may have the ability to affect production and / or regulatory requirements to ensure legal compliance is adhered to and maximise production.
  • Liaise with Production Engineers to ensure production and electrical / fixed plant maintenance priorities are aligned to ensure Mt Charlotte meets budget and forecast targets to achieve the operational plan.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • West Australian “A” Grade Electrical Worker’s Licence endorsed “electrical fitter and electrical mechanic” issued under the Electricity (Licensing) Regulations 1991.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years underground mining experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years at a supervisory level
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems and identify potential solutions by thinking out side of the box delivering alternative outcomes.
  • Experience in the development of team members enhancing team self esteem with proven ability to coach, mentor and influence others.
  • Experience in the preparation of maintenance budgets, input into operational budgets and cost management.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills enabling liaison at all levels of the organisation

Underground Shift Supervisor

This is a residential role on either a 5/2 dayshift :4/3 night shift or 7:7 (7 days,7 off, 7 nights, 7 off) roster.

KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

The successful candidate will supervise underground production and development personnel and activities to ensure that all targets are achieved in a coordinated, cost effective, timely and safe manner.

Key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee safety practices and participate in safety investigations to ensure site safety policies and procedures are adhered to and all risks associated with the working environment of Mt Charlotte employees and contractors is minimized.
  • Fulfil legislative requirements expected of an Underground Shift Supervisor under the Mine Safety Inspection Act (1994) and Regulations (1995)
  • Coordinate and assign the daily activities of all underground production and development personnel to ensure production targets are achieved in a safe and efficient manner
  • Report significant changes or events to any process or activity to the Mt Charlotte Technical staff to ensure all key stakeholders are appropriately informed.

Underground Production Superintendent

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Underground Production Superintendent to join the Underground Mining team in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This residential 5:2/4:3 role will lead the underground production team in the safe delivery of the underground (UG) operational plan by executing the scheduled mining activities through the utilisation of human and equipment resources in a safe and productive manner.

Key Accountabilities may include:

  • Implement and monitor the effectiveness of safety systems, safety culture action plan and safety processes to protect the human and equipment resources required to execute the mining schedule.
  • Ensure that all incidents and accidents are reported and are followed up correctly to minimise and manage risk and oversee investigations where required, ensuring that the Occupational Health and Safety Act is complied with at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all procedures, rules and regulations are in accordance with statutory requirements (such as Australian Mining Standards) and the Safety Management Plan in order to minimise exposure and liabilities.
  • Contribute to the achievement of operational and departmental goals by effectively managing and monitoring labour resource requirements and ensuring that permanent staff are adequately trained and supported
  • Utilise, support and develop equipment and personnel key performance indicators to effectively manage and allocate resources to achieve the UG mining plan by collecting accurate data, analyse the data for trends and determine opportunities for improvement
  • Provide leadership through coaching, mentoring and developmental activities to the UG Shift Supervisors, UG mining operations team and contractors to drive a positive inclusive workplace culture that KCGM’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Provide accurate and timely feedback to the technical services, mobile maintenance and fixed plant / electrical departments to facilitate the creation of an accurate and deliverable weekly, monthly, 12 weekly mining schedule to a level of detail, which supports the UG Shift Supervisors ability to execute mining activities to expectations.
  • Contribute to developing and managing the department budget and forecast to ensure expenditure is within budget.
  • Monitor and ensure all appropriate production reporting is completed on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis and where there are significant shortfalls in production, investigate, determine the cause and take corrective action
  • Contribute to the site strategic objectives by working with cross functional teams, taking on project roles and understanding accountabilities and interfaces
  • Identify risks and opportunities and develop strategies to improve performance, reduce risk and cost.

Underground Plant Mechanic

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking experienced Underground Mobile Plant Mechanics to join the Mining team at Mt Charlotte. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This residential role will be responsible for undertaking preventative and breakdown maintenance of the underground mobile plant fleet, ensuring maximum availability for production. There will be a 5:2 days/4:3 nights roster, as well as an even time 7 days / 7 off / 7 nights / 7 off roster available.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Complete scheduled maintenance of mobile plant to ensure availability of fleet, as indicated by the mining and maintenance schedules. The mobile plant fleet currently consists of Toyota Light Vehicle’s CAT/Elphinstone 2900 and 1700 Loaders; CAT 12G Grader, CAT Integrated Toolcarriers, Atlas Copco M7C & M2D/352 Twin Boom Jumbos, and Atlas Copco MT5010 & MT6020 Trucks.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults of mobile plant both in the workshop and in the field to ensure availability of mobile plant as defined in the mining schedule.
  • Submit completed daily maintenance reports including, but not limited to, service reports, time sheets and down time sheets to ensure accurate reflection of mobile plant availability and maintenance service utilization.
  • Maintain a hazard free repair bay and workshop by ensuring daily clean ups are conducted, in an attempt to reduce the number of hazards in the workplace.
  • Communicate maintenance requirements to the Supervisor and or Maintenance Planner in a timely manner to ensure sufficient notice is provided for parts ordering.
REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Australian-recognized Trade in Automotive Mechanical, Plant Mechanic or Heavy Duty Diesel Fitting
  • Minimum five (5) years post trade experience in the heavy duty fitting field
  • Minimum two (2) years heavy duty fitting experience in an underground mine
  • Demonstration of Intermediate computer literacy skills, especially in Oracle/SAP and Excel
  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills

This is a residential role based on a 7 Dayshift, 7 Off, 7 Nightshift, 7 Off roster, working 12 hour shifts.

This position will see you operating a variety of mobile plant and machinery over several different areas underground, for example truck, nipper, service crew, charge up, to bogger and jumbo, establishing and maintaining underground services, as well as provide generic labouring assistance to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.

  • Minimum seven (7) years experience in an underground Mining environment

Underground Miner 2 - Charge Up Operator

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Charge Up Operator for the Mt Charlotte underground operation in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This is a residential role on either a 5:2 dayshift/4:3 nightshift roster, working 10 hour shifts; or a 7:7 even time roster working 12 hour shifts on both days and nights.

This position will see you carrying out underground charging and blasting activities safely and in accordance with the blast plan.

This position is ideal for someone who has not only completed their charge up-time, but also operated a variety of underground equipment (eg: trucks, nipper), and are happy to operate a variety of equipment, depending on operational requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience working underground carrying out development charging and blasting activities
  • Long Hole Stope charging and Programmable Detonators experience essential
  • Dangerous Goods Security Card (Current)

Underground Miner 2 - Loader

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking experienced underground bogger operator to join the Mining Mt Charlotte Department at the Superpit operation in Kalgoorlie.

KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This is a residential role based on a 5:2 Dayshift, 4:3 Nightshift roster, working 10 hour shifts.

This residential position will see you operating load and haul vehicles of the underground production fleet in a safe and efficient manner and assisting with other underground work where required and qualified to ensure targets outlined in the underground mining schedule are achieved.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Operate Caterpillar 2900 and 1700 boggers in a safe and effective manner in a variety of settings, including stope draw points, development headings and stockpiles to achieve production and development targets outlined in the underground mining schedule.
  • Load and fire blast holes in accordance with the production plan in order for Production personnel to commence scheduled tasks on time and in ongoing shifts.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and standard operating procedures in relation to designing, charging and firing of underground blasts.
  • Establish, maintain and relocate underground services, including, but not limited to ventilation, air and water, to ensure the establishment and maintenance of a safe work environment.
  • Provide coverage for a variety of mobile plant, including, but not limited to CAT/Elphinstone 2900 and 1700 Loaders, CAT Integrated Toolcarriers, Atlas Copco H1357 Simba Long Hole & M2D/352 Twin Boom Jumbos, CAT 12G Grader, and Atlas Copco MT5010 Trucks to ensure production targets are attained safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain and develop underground roads to ensure road surfaces are suitable for operation of light vehicles and mobile plant.
  • Assist with the safe and effective charge-up of stope and development headings; and re-entry activities when required to ensure underground mining schedule is adhered to.
  • Provide relief coverage on various mobile plant or service crew, as dictated by operational requirements, to ensure ongoing attainment of production targets.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Minimum two (2) years experience operating Boggers – bogging development headings and clean ups
  • Additional demonstrated experience with Charge Up, Service Crew duties and other underground roles
  • Demonstrated ability in assessing road conditions and performing necessary maintenance
  • Ability to distinguish between rock material types
  • Ability to efficiently operate a variety of mobile plant equipment in various settings

  • Establish, maintain and relocate underground services, including, but not limited to ventilation, air and water, to ensure the establishment and maintenance of a safe work environment.
  • Perform maintenance on underground drainage systems to ensure consistent water flow to designated pump stations.
  • Provide coverage for a variety of mobile plant, including, but not limited to CAT/Elphinstone 2900 and 1700 Loaders, CAT Integrated Toolcarriers, Atlas Copco H1357 Simba Long Hole & M2D/352 Twin Boom Jumbos, CAT 12G Grader, and Atlas Copco MT5010 Trucks to ensure production targets are attained safely and efficiently.
  • Undertake scaling as required in order to reduce rock fall hazards.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum five (5) years underground experience, two of which have required Service Crew duties.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience operating an Integrated Tool Carrier
  • Minimum two (2) years experience operating a Bogger

Maintenance Technician - Lubrication

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Lubrication Technician for the Processing Department at the Superpit. This is a residential role on a 5/2 roster, working 10 hour days.

KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

The successful candidate is responsible for carrying out oil sampling and greasing routines, playing a key role in supporting the Production Team on lubrication techniques and Hydro-carbon Management, and supporting the maintenance and reliability of the plant.

Key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake preventative maintenance and daily lubrication maintenance and inspections of allocated plant sections, to ensure the ongoing reliability and efficiency of the plant.
  • Analyzing lubrication routines and leading improvement opportunities
  • Carry out oil sampling and greasing schedules
  • Responsible for sending oil samples to the Laboratory for analysis
  • Responsible for tracking oil analysis reports
  • Maintain lubrication systems in order to ensure plant remains at optimal operation.
  • Documenting equipment files, analyzing test results, evaluating and forecasting equipment trends and presenting technical recommendations.
  • Support the maintenance team on lubrication tasks acting as a specialist in this area and applying best lube practices.
  • Support and guide the implementation of Hydro-Carbon Management strategies by implementation of standard practices in the field.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area both during and after completing a job. This includes spills cleaned up (with oils and other wastes disposed of appropriately), and may also encompass work and associated mess undertaken by other team members as well as yourself.
  • Complete daily work orders and add any essential comments, drawing or photographs. If a work order cannot be completed, provide details of variance and return the work order to the shift supervisor or leading hand.
  • Coordinate, supervise and update progress of contract staff during plant shutdowns, to ensure contract staff are efficiently utilized and work within KCGM safety procedures and guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Experience in a mechanical maintenance or processing environment
  • Highrisk Fork Lift licence
  • Highrisk Elevate Work Platform licence
  • Confined Spaces Certificate within 2 years of age
  • Working at Heights Certificate within 2 years of age
  • Basic level of computer skills – particularly on Excel and Oracle
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region
  • A current Western Australian manual “C” class drivers licence, or above.

Preferred

  • MLT/MLA level 1 certification or higher (Machinery Lubrication Technician / Analyst)
  • Mechanical Trade Certificate, or similar
  • Two (2) years post-trade experience in a mechanical maintenance role.

Underground Senior Drill and Blast Engineer

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Underground Senior Drill and Blast Engineer for the Mining – Underground Department for the Superpit. This is a residential role on a 5/2:4/3 roster.

KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

The successful candidate will oversee planning and coordination of all underground (UG) operational and technical production activities to ensure resource availability is maximized, and to achieve the budget plan in a cost effective, timely and safe manner.

Key accountabilities may include:

  • Hold appointed Underground Manager ticket as a Deputy to the Underground Superintendent when required.
  • Act as Engineering Superintendent when required to lead the technical group and support the UGM
  • Accountable for generation of comprehensive stope note documents for the future stopes, with the focus to deliver reviewed stope mining plans prior to scheduled production activities for that stope.
  • Generate and complete stope reconciliation and analysis to determine the stope performance and highlight areas of risk and opportunities in future stopes.
  • Accountability for generation of detailed weekly plan that ensure weekly development, production, ancillary and maintenance activities are aligned to the medium term plan and support the long term strategy for the mine.
  • Responsible for weekly reporting of operational performance and high level analysis of areas that are a risk or opportunity to the business. Supporting and liaising with the Underground Manager to ensure the commentary reported through the business is accurate and succinct.
  • Accountability to ensure blast vibration monitoring is compliant with the MTC environment agreement and all underground stope blasts adhere to the statutory requirements of site. Responsible for proactive designs to reduce and mitigate environmental impact from blast vibration.
  • Proactively encourage reporting of all incidents and accidents, review and monitor all incident and accident reports of relevant area ensuring investigations and follow up actions are correctly implemented and completed to ensure that the Occupational Health and Safety Act is complied with at all times.
  • Contribute and support the Underground Manager in facilitating Department of Mines, Industry, Regulation and Safety visits, inspections and investigations.
  • Be involved and lead a Full Potential (operational improvement) Projects to reduce operational cost or improve productivity
  • Contribute and liaise with the Senior Planning and Projects Engineer to generate detailed and accurate physical and cost Forecasts for the operation. Provide key production productivity information for building accurate operational budgets.
  • Provide leadership through management of coaching, mentoring and developmental activities to production, drill and blast engineers, graduates and other junior technical staff members driving a positive workplace culture that reflects KCGM’s Values.
  • Oversee generation of operational work plans; job hazard analysis and team based risk assessments complimentary to works.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans, LOM contributions and operating/capital/manpower budgets to ensure continual development of Mt Charlotte and an increase in production efficiency.
  • Accountable for effective management of specific production contractors to support the operation and the productivity output
  • Coordinate cross functional planning and information sharing with Geology and Geotechnical specialist in the Mt Charlotte team.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Bachelor of Mining Engineering or other relevant discipline and/or experience (reviewed on a case by case nature).
  • Minimum of 6 years mining experience, with at least a minimum of 3 years in an underground environment.
  • Minimum one year at a senior level in a similarly sized operation or at a supervisory level within a larger operation, with exposure to leading and coaching a team in safe production in hard rock mining
  • The ability to use integrated management systems, spreadsheet applications, word processing, high level mine planning / production software including Vulcan, Deswik and presentation programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems and identify potential solutions by thinking out side of the box delivering alternative outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate representatives of varying disciplines towards achieving a common objective.
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region, or willing to be relocated.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.

Underground Drill & Blast Engineer

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking a Drill & Blast Engineer to join the Underground Mining team at Mt Charlotte in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

In this residential role, you will generate, schedule and implement short term Drilling, Blasting and ancillary mine plans to achieve the operational plan in a safe and cost effective manner. This involves coordinating production activities with Underground Mine Foreman to safely achieve production plans, and providing technical support to Underground Supervisors and crew members.

The role also includes daily and weekly data management for reporting purposes and stocktake management of production drill and blast consumables to ensure the operation is provided with the tools and resources to maintain the safe underground production.

The Underground Drill & Blast Engineer position is on a 5:2 / 4:3 roster.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Develop Drill and Blast plans to ensure available drilled and blasted stocks are maintained.
  • Assist with the generation of the Two Weekly Plan and provide key drilling and blasting information to Planning engineer to ensure it aligns with rolling 12 weekly plan. Ensure the schedule effectively utilises production resources and maintains ore production to meet daily and weekly production targets.
  • Successfully plan, monitor and manage the drilled and developed stocks to maintain sufficient stocks ahead of the mining plan.
  • Conduct drill consumables and explosive products stocks are maintained to meet operational requirements and ensure legislative requirements are met for explosive management.
  • Maintain and manage drill and blast contractors that support the underground production activities. Ensure conduct and management of contractors in to the KCGM standard.
  • Develop and execute work plans and instructions for minor projects and ancillary service works that support the production activities of the mine to ensure safe and efficient production of stopes.
  • Liaise with the Senior Production Engineer to ensure monthly targets are being achieved through daily and weekly plans. Conduct opportune mine projects as directed by Senior Technical Team.
  • Undertake generation of Drill and Blast design component of the pre-production mining Stope Note and ensure the correct plans are completed before production activity commences.
  • Assist the Ventilation Officer when required with Mine Ventilation planning, surveys and ventilation circuit generation and modification plans.
  • Co-ordinate production activities with Underground Mine Foreman to safely achieve production plans.
  • Provide technical support to Underground Supervisors and underground crew members when required, to assist in providing solutions to production activity challenges.
  • Prepare Daily and Weekly reports as required
  • Mining activities data base management with daily data entry for production and development activities
  • Support and train Graduate Mining Engineers

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a similar underground position
  • Bachelor of Mining or Engineering (Mining)
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience in mine design software, however, Vulcan is the preferred software package
  • Experience in a production engineering related role with exposure to underground ventilation
  • Western Australian Underground Supervisors Certificate of competency, or the ability to attain the certificate, preferred
  • Dangerous Goods Security Card or proof of application, preferred

Voids Technician

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking a Voids Technician for the Technical Services & Projects Department at the Superpit. This is a residential role on an 8/6 roster, working 11.5 hour days.

KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This technical support role involves working as part of a team to identify void areas to ensure that the hazards associated with remnant mining are managed and work is completed in safe manner.

This role is potentially suitable for someone who is studying towards a mining-related professional qualification (such as mine Engineering), with a relatively small amount of mining experience, possessing good analytical skills who is looking for an opportunity to learn, grow and contribute to a team who play a unique and crucial part of production in the Superpit.

Key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake void management activities to ensure short term void risks are safely managed and that the hazards associated with historical workings are mitigated. This includes supporting requests from other internal areas, to assist with void identification and definition.
  • Ensure that void related hazards are identified and managed including but not limited to:
    • Determination of flagging and voids restrictions (areas identified with historical workings)
    • Designing of probe and RC holes for location and definition of historical workings
    • Conduct, process and triangulate Cavity Auto Laser Surveys (CALS)
  • Analyse data by reconciliation of several data sources to determine the location and nature of underground workings including;
    • Reviewing historical mine plans and sections including level modelling
    • Assessing drilling data from
      • Probe holes
      • Grade Control (RC) and Exploration holes
      • Resource Definition (Res Def) holes
      • Blast holes
    • Subsidence reports
    • Pit inspections
    • Open Pit mining history
    • Wire framing of historical and interpretive workings
    • CALS
    • Seismic monitoring and extensometer (as provided by the Geotechnical Department)
  • Ensure that void related hazards are safely managed including but not limited to:
    • Preconditioning by deep blasting
    • Planning and approving the backfilling of voids (where applicable)
    • Designing and identifying access paths for mining activities through underground workings
    • Investigation all subsidence reports (workings related and suspected) including hazardous ground encountered and reported during drilling
    • Inspection of all blasted shots
    • Ensure daily monitoring is conducted of underground workings uncovered by mining activities.
    • Ensure controls are implemented to manage historical workings
  • Ensure void related designs, information and approvals are communicated in a timely manner including but not limited to:
    • Flagging, voids restrictions and locations are updated in the PITS package for use by Fimiston Open Pit personnel.
    • Flagging information conveyed to the Survey Team for demarcation
    • Flagging information conveyed to Dispatch Team for loading into machinery/vehicles
    • Digplans are conveyed to the Mining Team for digging
    • Complete access approvals for personnel and machinery in and around void areas
    • Complete voids related assessment including; PCWAC, Environmental and Drilling Approvals
  • Assist the Voids Technician Project in medium to long term voids related tasks as required.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Technical experience planning and design within open pit and/or underground mining operations.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy
  • Proven organisational and planning abilities
  • Working at Heights Accreditation.
  • Excellent communication skills across a diverse group of people.
  • Must reside locally in the Goldfields region
  • National Police Clearance – valid within the last twelve (12) months
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.

Preferred

  • Study towards a relevant professional qualification, eg Mine Engineering, Survey, Geology
  • Exposure to Mining Software including; Vulcan Software.
  • Experience in:-
    • Underground and/or open cut gold mining;
    • Historical mining such as Air- Leg mining;
    • Drill and Blast functions of Open Pit; and/or
    • Survey functions of Open Pit.

Mechanical Reliability Engineer

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Reliability Engineer for the Engineering & Maintenance Department for the Superpit and its’ processing facilities. This is a residential role on a 5/2:4/3 roster.

KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

The successful candidate will provide technical support for the Technical Services and Projects department, as well as conducting analytical work which will be used to identify, quantify and implement trials or facilitate activities to improve the overall performance KCGM’s processing plants.

Key accountabilities may include:

  • Ensure that all incidents and accidents are reported and are followed up correctly to minimize and manage risk and attend investigations where required, ensuring that the Occupational Health and Safety Act is complied with at all times.
  • Complete the daily investigation and weekly reporting of downtime events and the diagnosis of root causes, to assist in providing permanent rectification of defects within the plants, and identify key business risks.
  • Conduct investigations through the application of a structured process such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), failure mode & effect analysis (FMEA), to develop action plans to increase Mean Time between Failures (MTBF) and reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
  • Coordinate plant equipment improvement trials, including technical input, tracking and reporting to ensure alignment of all trial work using the KCGM Management of Change procedure.
  • Review criticality analysis to ensure plant events are documented, tracked are prioritized through risk review.
  • Identify the plant bottlenecks and facilitate the improvements for reducing unit costs.
  • Collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to identify and adopt technologies and practices that will improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Prepare engineering reports to meet KCGM requirements. In addition, review KCGM engineering specifications and update as required.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Three (3) years trade experience in the reliability sector – mineral processing environment or similar.
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) with relevant equivalent experience.
  • Advanced computer literacy, in particular all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite and Visual Basic tools for data analysis.
  • Sound analytical skills and the ability to think laterally.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills enabling liaison at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and identify potential solutions by thinking outside of the box delivering alternative outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Must reside within the Goldfields region, or be willing to relocate.
  • National Police Clearance within twelve (12) months of age
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.

  • Familiarity with the Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations

Metallurgical Technician

The successful candidate will provide routine field work, sampling, reporting, assaying and QA/QC for solid solution grades, carbons, inventory profiles and any other monitoring of plant operations.

Key accountabilities may include:

  • Conduct the assigned routine sampling and assaying of plant samples, including the hypersaline duties.
  • Carry out requirements of daily operational tasks under the Laboratory Supervisor direction.
  • Quality control and reporting of all routine sampling and other relevant data both on file and computer (as relevant) to ensure accurate data is maintained and reported in a timely manner.

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) would like to open an Expressions of Interest for experienced Process Technicians to join the Processing Department at the Superpit operation in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

KCGM’s Process Technicians are on a 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off roster, working 12 hour shifts, and work across both the Gidji and Fimiston sites.

As a Process Technician, you will undertake daily general plant activities in both the Fimiston Mineral Processing Plant and Gidji Operations. This will include monitoring and maintaining assigned operations and equipment within the plants to optimize circuit availability and gold recovery, safely and efficiently.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Maintain constant surveillance of assigned work stations to ensure effective and efficient operations of the plant in a safe manner.
  • Report all mechanical and electrical problems to the Shift Supervisor and Process Controller to ensure safe operation of the plant and to maintain productivity.
  • Conduct clean-up duties where required to ensure plant equipment is functioning properly and safely.
  • Perform basic reactive maintenance on plant equipment to ensure productivity is maintained.
  • Assist in the review of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure they are reflective of work performed and required.
  • Collect and record routine readings and analyse samples within the plant for Quality Assurance Quality Control (QAQC) purposes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in a similar Process technician or Utilities technician position
  • Current Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets within two (2) years of age
  • Solid mechanical aptitude
  • Metalliferous Mining qualifications or study thereto highly regarded, but not essential
  • High Risk Licences (LF, LS, WP) highly regarded, but not essential
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate level of computer skills
  • Ability to work in outdoors conditions, completing regular active tasks
  • Must reside locally within the Goldfields region

This residential position is on a 5 days, 2 off roster, working 10 hour days.

As a Utilities Technician you will undertake daily general plant activities in the Fimiston Mineral Processing Plant and Mt Charlotte and Gidji operations to ensure a high level of housekeeping and shutdown preparation to contribute to meeting shutdown schedules and supporting the optimum recovery of gold, safely and efficiently.

This could include, but is not limited to

  • Undertake replenishment of reagent stocks to ensure continuous supply to the Mineral Processing Plant for optimum gold recovery.
  • Complete the cleaning of the Mount Charlotte, Fimiston and CIL tanks, and Gidji operation in order to prepare the Mineral Processing Plant for planned shut-down tasks to be conducted by Process Technicians and Maintenance personnel.
  • Undertake Shutdown Isolation Preparation cleaning of chutes, hoppers, cells and launders to ensure shutdown Maintenance tasks are ready for inspections.
  • Conduct clean out of CIL Tanks to ensure draining and hosing of the remaining slurry contents is conducted in readiness for Maintenance inspections.
  • Set up mobile compressors for plant air outlets and mobile pumps as required in bunded areas and sumps wells and conduct regular daily operational checks to ensure continual supply.
  • Undertake evacuation of rubbish and hydro-carbon receptacles to ensure cleanliness of plant is maintained.
  • Provide input to regular revisions of Standard Operating Procedures to assist in ensuring they are reflective of required work to be performed.
