With the continuous development here at Northern Star Resources KCGM we are looking for expressions of interest for numerous roles.

The Vendor Management Specialist, reporting to the Commercial Manager, will support the KCGM team to maximise margin through more effective vendor management, with a focus on spend outside of major contracts.

Critical projects over the first 6 to 12 months in the role will include

  • Deep dive analysis of supplier spend, at invoice level detail and creation of spend profile for KCGM
  • Review analysis and spend profile with site and corporate stakeholders to develop a program of works to realise opportunities for better quality supplier spend
  • Work with identified suppliers to understand barriers when working at KCGM, and where win win opportunities exist
  • Agree priority implementation plan with GM and site leadership team and Group Procurement Manager
  • Deliver agreed program of vendor spend optimisation working closely with site and corporate stakeholders
  • Create and implement, working with the corporate supply team a framework for supplier management across site from onboarding to receipt of services, including performance review and frame work for feedback to suppliers, and general tool kit
  • Agree framework with key stakeholders and educate site
  • Monitor framework use and flex as required to improve effectiveness

This role will be suited to somebody with previous experience working in procurement or contracts, or who has experience managing suppliers in an operational environment, with the drive to work with the supplier to optimise the value to KCGM and the supplier. The role suits someone who enjoys working with a variety of stakeholders and with the ability to influence and demonstrate to others the value of a more structured approach to vendor management.

Northern Star Resources is seeking a Vendor Officer to be part of the NSR-KCGM team.

With the continuous development here at Northern Star Resources KCGM we are looking for expressions of interest for numerous roles.

The Vendor Officer, reporting to the Vendor Management Specialist, will give the opportunity to be involved in a change in approach at KCGM to maximise margin through more effective vendor management, with a focus on spend outside of major contracts.

Critical tasks over the first 6 to 12 months in the role will include

  • Collation of data for deep dive analysis of supplier spend looking at invoice detail and spend profile elements
  • Support the delivery of an agreed program of work to optimise vendor spend as directed by the Vendor Management Specialist
  • Assist the Vendor Management Specialist to develop and educate site in the use of tools to improve spend management from onboarding to receipt of services, including performance review and feedback to and from suppliers

This role will be suited to somebody with attention to detail, some business experience, a willingness to ask questions and mid level Microsoft office skills. The role will involve a large amount of data review and collation and categorisation of data, but with the opportunity to be involved in the transformation of this information into an improved business process.

Requirements

The successful applicant will possess the following attributes;

  • A tertiary qualification (minimum degree level) in geology.
  • Six (6) years’ experience as a geologist in the resource industry, preferably within a gold mining operation.
  • Experience with mining and geology software packages such as Datamine, Leapfrog and Acquire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in sampling, Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC), block modelling, advanced grade estimation techniques, and reconciliation.
  • Leadership experience, positively leading a team, and Contractor Management (analytical assay and drilling).
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region, or willing to relocate for our residential world-class ore body.

Geotechnical Engineer - Projects

Project Geotechnical Engineer – Open Pit

Northern Star Resources Ltd is currently seeking an experienced Project Geotechnical Engineer to join the Mining Open Pit team at their Kalgoorlie KCGM Superpit operation.

This residential position will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of effective and safe production related Open Pit Geotechnical services, to ensure the safe achievement of budget and Life of Mine (LOM) targets.

This role involves working primarily in an office based environment at NSR-KCGM’s Fimiston site on a day roster, but regular field work and in-field support will be required as part of the role. Opportunity to support the underground Mt Charlotte Operations will also be required, on occasion.

Key Accountabilities may include:

  • Implement the slope monitoring programs to supply timely information and advice to all working teams in the mine areas on slope movement.
  • Complete daily Geotechnical inspections and reporting of the open pit and/or underground mining areas, to ensure and maintain productivity and safety of employees and contractors.
  • Prepare Geotechnical designs and implement via contractors, the ground support required to ensure rock face stability, to enable the steepest most productive slope possible that is also safe to operate.
  • Conduct Geotechnical project work to ensure continuous improvement with respect to Geotechnical activities.
  • Assist in developing the life of mine geotechnical designs for the open pit or underground operation, to contribute to long term mine plans.

Requirements

Essential

  • A tertiary qualification (minimum degree level) in Mine Engineering, or Geology with appropriate Geotechnical experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in a Geotechnical Engineering role in a mining environment.
  • Experience in a hard rock mining environment.
  • A high level of computer literacy and experience in Geotechnical software packages.
  • Must reside within the Goldfields region, or be willing to relocate for this residential site.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Manual Drivers Licence.

Preferred

  • Completed post graduate studies in the Geotechnical disciplines e.g. rock mechanics.
  • Five (5) years experience in a Geotechnical Engineering role in an open pit gold mine.

Process Technician - KCGM

Gold in Ounces. Opportunities in Tonnes – Experienced Process Technicians

Northern Star Resources is currently on the look out for skilled and experienced Process Technicians to join our Fimiston and Gidji Processing Teams at the NSR-KCGM site in Kalgoorlie.

These residential positions are on an even-time roster, working 12 hour shifts on both days and nights, providing a great work-home life balance to the local work force.

The Process Technician reports to the Shift Supervisor, and the primary role is to operate all sections of the processing plant which include, Crushing, Grinding, Flotation, Leaching, and Elution, in accordance with Specified parameters, to optimize gold production/recovery. This includes basic maintenance of the operational equipment within the Processing Department.

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of one (1) years experience in a similar Process technician or Utilities technician position
  • Current Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets within two (2) years of age
  • Solid mechanical aptitude
  • Basic level of computer skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Display good problem solving skills.
  • Have a production and cost initiative focus.
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in outdoors conditions, completing regular active tasks
  • High Risk Licences (LF, LS, WP) highly regarded, but not essential
  • Must reside locally within the Goldfields region
  • National Police Clearance – valid within the last twelve (12) months
  • Hold a current Unencumbered West Australian Manual “C” Class Drivers Licence.

Northern Star has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Project Engineer (Electrical) to join our Processing Department at our world-class KCGM Operation. This opportunity is offered as residential in the Goldfields.

This Project Engineer position will be responsible for the end to end execution and management of multidisciplinary projects, from initial concept development and feasibility analysis, through to construction, commissioning and final handover. In addition, you will be expected to ensure all design work conforms to relevant statutory standards and specifications through engaging relevant external or internal technical and engineering specialists.

Requirements 

Essential

  • Minimum five (5) years experience in a similar role within the resources sector.
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or formal project management qualification.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills enabling liaison at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and identify potential solutions by thinking outside of the box delivering alternative outcomes.
  • National Police Clearance within twelve (12) months of age.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.
  • Must reside locally in the Goldfields region, or be willing to relocate.
  • Passionate about safety, teamwork, honesty, integrity and results driven.

Preferred

  • Experience in a mineral processing environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Project Delivery life cycle.
  • Experience in working within a capital projects team.
  • Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards, Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations (MSIR).

Light Vehicle Mechanic - KCGM

Northern Star’s KCGM site is searching for an experienced Light Vehicle Mechanic to join the Mining Mobile Maintenance Department at the Fimiston Superpit operation.

This position will see you performing preventative and break-down maintenance on Company light vehicles (LV) and lighting plants, ensuring planned maintenance and operations based activities are followed to meet site operational plans, targets and objectives.

This residential position is on a 5/2 roster, working 10 hour days, providing a great work-home life balance – be home every night!

Requirements

Essential

  • Trade certificate in Automotive Mechanics, or relevant related discipline.
  • Diesel or Light Vehicle mechanic experience.
  • Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise break down work.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to take direction well.
  • Good customer services skills.
  • Intermediate level computer literacy
  • Basic experience in a maintenance management system
  • Must reside within the Goldfields region, or willing to relocate.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Manual Drivers Licence.

Preferred

  • Previous experience with lighting towers, light vehicle and light truck (Isuzu) maintenance.
  • Previous experience with Toyota fleet.

Production Employee - Shovel Operator - KCGM

Due to exciting growth, fantastic opportunities have arisen for experienced Shovel Operators and Production Excavator Operators at Northern Star Resources KCGM site in Kalgoorlie.

Reporting to the Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for effectively and safely operating a Komatsu PC8000 shovel or Liebherr 9350 / PC4000-8000 Excavators as well as other mobile plant as directed, ensuring targets outlined in the Open Pit mining schedule are achieved in a safe and timely manner.

Our Shovel Operators work a residential, family friendly roster – 7 on, 7 off , 12.5 hour days and nights.

These residential positions are on a 7/7 even-time roster, working 12.5 hour shifts on both days and nights, providing a great work-home life balance where you could be home every night.

Working an even-time 7/7 roster on both day and night shift, this full-time fixed-term, Kalgoorlie-based residential Trainee Program, allows for great work-life balance, and an optimal lifestyle in the Goldfields.

This opportunity is residential in the Goldfields, on a full time, 2 year fixed-term contract, working a 7/7 even-time roster, and 12.5 hour shifts.

Requirements

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Operating CAT 793 and 777 haul trucks in the open pit and Ore Delivery/Rehandle area, working in conjunction with PC 8000 Face shovels, Excavators and Loaders, to fulfil production requirements in a safe and reliable manner.
  • Trainee CAT 793 and 777 Haul Truck Operators will be enrolled in a formal Certificate 3 in Surface Extraction, which will require completion over a 24 month period. Candidates will therefore be employed on a 24 month fixed-term contract, to align with certificate terms.
  • Trainee CAT 793 and 777 Haul Truck Operators will rotate through the Mining Open Pit departmental areas, and will also undertake a number of related activities, such as stick picking in the Ore Delivery team, training, and observations as part of their learnings and rotations through the mining operation.
  • You will be a highly driven individual, looking to expand your knowledge and experience
  • You will also display behaviour consistent with our Northern Star Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results, looking to work with the business for the long-term, and be an integral part in its future growth and development.

Required skills and experience include:

  • Heavy machinery or other industrial machine operating experience beneficial
  • Exceptional focus on safety and strong work ethic
  • Ability to speak up – At Northern Star we encourage our employees to speak up
  • Ability to work across various areas of the operations, such as within the stick-picking team, physically removing waste and contaminants from the ore
  • National Police Clearance (valid within the last 12 months)
  • Current unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Manual Drivers Licence
  • Registrations with the RTO for the Certificate III in Surface Extraction over a 24 month period.

Geologist - Operations Mt Charlotte - KCGM

Geologist – Operations (Underground)

Northern Star Resources Ltd has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an Underground Mine Geologist at our Kalgoorlie Operation.

Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the Underground Mine Geologist will be involved with the development of additional resources through diamond drill programs to extend the life of mine and grade control production duties, including mapping and sampling of ore headings and stockpiles underground.

This is a permanent, full-time residential opportunity based in the Goldfields, Western Australia. Full relocation package will be provided to the successful applicant.

The successful candidate will possess the following essential criteria;

  • Tertiary qualification in Geology (Bachelor minimum).
  • Proven experience in a mine geology position within the underground mining environment.
  • Experience in Achaean gold systems will be highly regarded.
  • Prior experience in underground production.
  • Experience in managing diamond drilling programs
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Exposure to modelling software (e.g. Datamine or Leap Frog) ideal.
  • Must be willing to reside in the Goldfields region for this residential role.
  • Current unencumbered manual “C” Class drivers license.
