Northern Star Resources is searching for an experienced Mine Scheduling Engineer to join the Mining Technical team at our residential-Kalgoorlie site, KCGM.

The purpose of this role is to provide technical and scheduling support to Mining Operations to achieve the daily, monthly & annual Mine Plans. Engineering methodologies are applied to the short-interval mine planning horizon to ensure that resources are being fully utilised in support of obtaining mining targets. This crucial role coordinates planning activities with other stakeholders through effective communication to ensure plan execution in a timely and safe manner within the guidelines of statutory requirements and KCGM standards.

This residential opportunity is on an 8:6 roster, working 12 hour day shifts.

Requirements

Essential

  • Bachelor of Mining Engineering or relevant discipline
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ operational or technical experience in an open pit mining or quarry environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of mining sequence process and activities
  • Exposure to strategic business planning processes
  • Highly developed communication and influencing skills with the ability to liaise with all levels of the organisation. Excellent presentation skills.
  • Proficient use of general mining software packages, eg; Vulcan, Deswick, Xecute
  • Strong PC skills and computer literacy, being proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Knowledge of the statutory regulations relevant to safety and the environment for the mining industry
  • Demonstrated problem solving and continuous improvement mindset
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence
  • National Police Clearance – valid within twelve (12) months.
  • Must reside within the Goldfields, WA Region for this residential opportunity

Preferred

  • Relevant professional membership e.g. Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) or Institution of Engineering Australia
  • Current, or commencement of study towards attaining Quarry Managers Ticket.

Northern Star Resources KCGM-Site is currently seeking a Business Officer to join the Commercial Department at the Superpit mine in Kalgoorlie for a twelve (12) month fixed term.

This is a residential role on a 5/2:4/3 Roster, working 9.5 hour days.

Sitting within the Commercial function, the Business Officer provides support for accounting services and advice to onsite departments, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with applicable compliance obligations.

Key tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with month end accounting processes including transaction review, cost review, cost reporting and trend analysis.
  • Assist Operating Departments and Business Analysts with capital requests, including Authorisation for Expenditure and Investment Evaluation Module preparation.
  • Assist with the preparation of site wide budgets and quarterly forecasts, and present information to various stake holders.
  • Prepare royalty, Goods and Services Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax returns to ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements.
  • Participate in regular audits with both Owners and external auditors.
  • Maintain the capital module within Pronto including Work Breakdown Structures and end of month reconciliations, and maintain the fixed asset register within Pronto.

The Environment Advisor will assist in the delivery and maintenance of high quality analysis, reporting and management programs for nominated environment aspects. Key Accountabilities include:

  • Develop and maintain internal relationships with key stakeholders especially KCGM employees, consultants and contractors related to specified environment portfolios.
  • Measure the performance of specified environment portfolios by implementing analysis, reporting and management programmes to ensure that the requirements of key stakeholders are met.
  • Participate and Contribute to the HSEC Department plans ensuring identified objectives and targets are completed meeting prescribed deadlines and timeframes.
  • Prepare regulatory approvals, coordinate internal approvals requirements for site to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Prepare required regulatory reporting (eg: Annual Environment Reports, Annual Compliance Reporting) from the site to ensure legal compliance with compliance reporting schedules.
  • Ensure that documentation is developed and maintained for the environmental management system including the requirements of key stakeholders.
  • Participate and contribute to the preparation of Operational and Capital budgets to assist in ensuring expenditure is managed to meet corporate requirements.
  • Proactively encourage and participate in reporting of all events and hazards, review and monitor all event and hazard reports of relevant area and participate in investigations and complete follow up actions as required.
  • Assist with the management of the legal register in consultation with Senior and Superintendent ensuring commitments and conditions are accurately entered and tasks are being undertaken as required to demonstrate compliance.

Requirements

Essential

  • Hold a Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent.
  • Experience in a similar role, including in compliance, permitting and approval activities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with good time management skills.
  • A high level of planning and analytical skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and Database skills.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.
  • Must be willing to relocate in the Goldfields region for this residential site.
  • GIS proficiency

Preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience with Western Australian mining project approvals, land tenure and Part IV and V Environmental Protection Act processes.
  • Previous experience in the mining industry.
  • Able to motivate others to deliver outcomes.

The Opportunity – Maintenance Planner

Northern Star has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Maintenance Planner at our world-class Kalgoorlie Operation. This is a permanent full-time residential opportunity based in the Goldfields.

In this role, the Maintenance Planner will be responsible for ensuring that Shutdown and planned maintenance activities for all fixed plant are appropriately planned (resources, parts, equipment, tooling), sequenced and scheduled so that the work progresses in a safe, efficient and organized manner, minimizing any downtime and also ensuring plant reliability that meets the maintenance budget. Your roster will be 5/2/4/3 residential to Kalgoorlie-Boulder or surrounds.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years practical experience in a maintenance environment, preferably in mining/minerals processing
  • Minimum of two (2) years in a similar role
  • Mechanical or Electrical Trade Certificate and/ or Degree in Engineering
  • Strong working knowledge of Maintenance Planning and CMMS
  • Experience in Pronto MMS advantageous though not essential
  • Experience in Microsoft Project scheduling
  • Proficient in use of MS Office suite
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems and identify potential solutions by thinking outside of the box to deliver alternative outcomes
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills enabling liaison at all levels of the organisation
  • Must reside locally within the Goldfields region, or be willing to relocate

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the position performs preventative, planned and breakdown mechanical maintenance for the KCGM Fimiston and Gidji Gold processing circuits, ensuring optimum operating conditions are achieved, with ongoing efficiency and reliability.

Requirements

  • Australian Nationally Accredited Trades Certificate in Mechanical Fitting and/or Fitter Machining.
  • Minimum of two (2) years mechanical maintenance experience, mine site-based preferred.
  • High Risk Work Licences, such as LF, WP, DG, RA – preferred.
  • Confined Space and Working at Heights qualifications – preferred.
  • Demonstrated intermediate level of computer literacy, with experience on Maintenance Management Systems.
  • High commitment to safety is essential.
  • Must reside locally within the Goldfields region, or willing to relocate for this residential role.
  • National Police Clearance – valid within the last twelve (12) months.

Process Technician

Gold in Ounces. Opportunities in Tonnes – Experienced Process Technicians

Northern Star Resources is currently on the look out for skilled and experienced Process Technicians to join our Fimiston and Gidji Processing Teams at the NSR-KCGM site in Kalgoorlie.

These residential positions are on an even-time roster, working 12 hour shifts on both days and nights, providing a great work-home life balance to the local work force.

The Process Technician reports to the Shift Supervisor, and the primary role is to operate all sections of the processing plant which include, Crushing, Grinding, Flotation, Leaching, and Elution, in accordance with Specified parameters, to optimize gold production/recovery. This includes basic maintenance of the operational equipment within the Processing Department.

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of one (1) years experience in a similar Process technician or Utilities technician position
  • Current Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets within two (2) years of age
  • Solid mechanical aptitude
  • Basic level of computer skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Display good problem solving skills.
  • Have a production and cost initiative focus.
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in outdoors conditions, completing regular active tasks
  • High Risk Licences (LF, LS, WP) highly regarded, but not essential
  • Must reside locally within the Goldfields region
  • National Police Clearance – valid within the last twelve (12) months
  • Hold a current Unencumbered West Australian Manual “C” Class Drivers Licence.

This position will see you performing preventative and break-down maintenance on Company light vehicles (LV) and lighting plants, ensuring planned maintenance and operations based activities are followed to meet site operational plans, targets and objectives.

Essential

  • Trade certificate in Automotive Mechanics, or relevant related discipline.
  • Diesel or Light Vehicle mechanic experience.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Operating CAT 793 and 777 haul trucks in the open pit and Ore Delivery/Rehandle area, working in conjunction with PC 8000 Face shovels, Excavators and Loaders, to fulfil production requirements in a safe and reliable manner.
  • Trainee CAT 793 and 777 Haul Truck Operators will be enrolled in a formal Certificate 3 in Surface Extraction, which will require completion over a 24 month period. Candidates will therefore be employed on a 24 month fixed-term contract, to align with certificate terms.
  • Trainee CAT 793 and 777 Haul Truck Operators will rotate through the Mining Open Pit departmental areas, and will also undertake a number of related activities, such as stick picking in the Ore Delivery team, training, and observations as part of their learnings and rotations through the mining operation.
  • You will be a highly driven individual, looking to expand your knowledge and experience
  • You will also display behaviour consistent with our Northern Star Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results, looking to work with the business for the long-term, and be an integral part in its future growth and development.

Required skills and experience include:

Open Pit Mine Geologist

Open Pit Mine Geologist

Northern Star Resources Ltd is currently seeking a Mine Geologist to join the Geology Department at the Superpit operation in Kalgoorlie.

The Mine Geologist will deliver the maximum ore grade to the Mineral Processing Plant, through accurate identification of mineralisation, optimal ore classification and supervision of extraction (to minimise dilution).

This residential role is on an 8:6 roster, working 11 hour days.

Key Accountabilities

  • Design, schedule and oversee Reverse Circulation (RC) or Diamond drilling programs to ensure provision of timely and accurate data for analysis.
  • Undertake analysis, interpretation and modelling of data, including drill samples and voids in order to accurately locate ore bodies and individual probe locations for the subsequent redevelopment and implementation of dig plans. As part of this process, examine Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) data and follow up on any issues with the laboratory in order to validate results used in estimation.
  • Monitor and adjust the ore extraction process to ensure correct classification of ore and optimal grade is delivered to processing. Conduct geological mapping.
  • Direct development in a narrow vein orebody.
  • Coordinate and assist in the ore mark-up process to ensure easy identification of ore and waste blocks. In addition, provide support and training to Graduate Geologists to assist their development to becoming active members of the Grade Control team.
  • Design, implement and mark out access ways for production equipment to access blasted zones.
  • Monitor and adjust, via ore spotting, the ore extraction process to ensure the dig plan is correctly followed and minimise the risk of ore loss and ore dilution.
  • Coordinate the planning, implementation and monitoring of RC drill schedules to ensure accurate data is available for analysis.
