Manager - Mining

A stellar opportunity now exists for an experienced Mine Manager.

Reporting to the General Manager, this new leadership role will provide overall management of KCGM’s Mining function, which consists of the Fimiston Open Pit (Superpit) and the Mt Charlotte Underground operations, ensuring achievement of mine production targets, aligning with Budget and Life of Mine in the safest and most cost efficient manner.

Key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to managers and supervisory staff to create an environment in which the workplace reflects KCGM’s values.
  • Manage the Open Pit and Underground production function to ensure that short and long term targets are met.
  • Regularly report on the activities of the Mining Department to ensure that the General Manager, Joint Venture Owners, and other key stakeholders are kept informed.
  • Ensure that mining activities are carried out in line with applicable regulatory and Corporate obligations.
  • Develop, input into, and approve Mining Department strategic plans, Life Of Mine (LOM) contributions and operating / capital / headcount budgets and costs to ensure alignment with site strategic, and operational, plans and targets.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful applicant will possess the following:-

Essential

  • A tertiary qualification (minimum degree level) in Mining or Geology, or related discipline.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years experience within the Mining Industry.
  • Experience in large scale Open Pit operations.
  • A minimum of two (2) years professional experience in Underground Mining.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience within a senior leadership role at a medium to large mining operation.
  • Experience in leading large teams of people, and must possess the capacity to motivate, mentor and influence others in a positive and effective manner.
  • Experience in budgeting and cost management.
  • Experience in public speaking, with solid presentation skills.
  • Current Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency or First Class Mining certification.
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region, or be willing to be relocated to Kalgoorlie for this residential position.
  • Current unencumbered Australian Drivers licence.

Hauling Supervisor

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Hauling Supervisor at Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM).

Reporting to the Open Pit Production Superintendent, the Hauling Supervisor will efficiently direct and monitor Hauling activities in the Fimiston Open Pit (Superpit) to ensure that production targets are achieved in a timely and safe manner within the guidelines of statutory requirements and KCGM standards.

This is an even time 7 on, 7 off roster, working 12 hour shifts on both days and nights.

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ operation of various mining machinery in an open pit mining or quarry environment.
  • A  minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory experience of large crews.
  • Strong understanding of mining sequence process and activities.
  • Leadership and Supervisory training.
  • Conflict Management Training.
  • Experience in performance management of team members, enhancing team self-esteem with the ability to coach, mentor and influence others in a positive and effective manner.
  • Good computer literacy with the ability to use integrated management systems, spreadsheet applications and word processing software .
  • Exposure to a range of workplace safety systems.
  • Dispatching experience.
  • Must reside locally in the Goldfields region, or willing to relocate for this residential role.
  • National Police Clearance (valid within last 12 months).
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.

Commercial Principal - Fixed Term

A golden opportunity exists for a Commercial Principal at Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM).

Reporting to the General Manager, this 12 month fixed-term management position will lead and manage the commercial functions of KCGM, with a strong focus on business value and corporate affairs in the areas of:

  • Finance;
  • Payroll;
  • Accounts Payable;
  • Land and Tenements;
  • Administrative Services;
  • Business Improvement; and
  • Information and Communication Technology.

Through the site-based KCGM Commercial Team, this position leads the site in providing services for commercial matters including providing analysis and advice on finances – ensuring good financial controls are upheld, risk – including cost management, and other commercial aspects; contributing to the sustainability of KCGM’s business. The Commercial Team provides resources and direction to the site through line leadership, as well as the continuous improvement of systems and processes, enabling collaboration across site to implement and standardize best practices.

This position is a 12 month fixed term opportunity.

  • Strong leadership capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to lead, coach, mentor and influence others in a positive and effective manner.
  • Thorough working knowledge of:-
    • Mining and mineral processing operations.
    • Technical aspects of finance, commercial and business improvement.
    • Financial controls and audit practices.

Metallurgical Superintendent

This is a full time residential position on a 5:2/4:3 roster, working 9.5 hours days.

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an operational (mine site based) processing environment.
  • A tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, or extensive practical experience to an equivalent level.
  • Experience in financial management, including the preparation of budgets and cost management.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to lead, coach, mentor and influence others in a positive and effective manner.
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region, or be willing to be relocated to Kalgoorlie for this residential position.
  • Current unencumbered Australian Drivers licence.
