Human Resources and Learning & Development Superintendent

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced HR and L&D Superintendent to join the Human Resources team under the Services Department at the Superpit operation in Kalgoorlie.

KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Goldcorp and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This is a residential role on a 5:2/4:3 roster, working 9.5 hour days.

Reporting to the HR Manager, this role will lead the HR team to provide an effective and efficient support to site leaders and employees. The Learning & Development (L&D) function sits within the HR team, and involves monitoring and development of site specific HR and L&D procedures and practices as well as guidance and interpretation to management and employees on these HR policies and procedures.

Key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain systems and processes related to the delivery of HR services, including identification and facilitation of implementing improvements, to ensure accurate and up to date information, regarding people management, to ensure delivery of HR information and services to KCGM.
  • Supervise, coach and mentor HR Team to ensure their ongoing professional and personal development and ensure the alignment to of KCGM’s Values.
  • Lead the attraction, recruitment and selection function to ensure that the support and services provide maximum recruitment to fit and are delivered in a timely manner to maintain budgeted resourcing in all areas of the operation and to assist in the coordination of KCGM’s indigenous employment.
  • Assist and advise Department Supervisors in the management and resolution of employee disciplinary matters, and along with their HR Advisors, ensure that all IR issues are managed in the best interests of the company, and conform to State and Federal legislation.
  • Coordinate the annual HR budgeting process, whilst assisting with the workforce planning process, to ensure effective cost control and the provision of quality, robust and accurate recommendations to the business to assist with an effective organisational design.
  • In conjunction with Occupational Health Nurses, coordinate the HR aspects of the worker’s compensation and salary continuance injury management programs, to conform to corporate and legal compliance requirements.
  • Oversee communications with major site contracting companies to ensure that their employee relations practices and policies are in accordance with KCGM requirements and applicable state and federal legislation.
  • Maintain relationships with applicable third party organizations to ensure that effective working relationships are maintained and concerns raised are addressed in a timely manner in the best interests of the organisation.
  • Coordinate the market and performance based remuneration reviews, job banding and salary grading system, to ensure that a fair, consistent and competitive remuneration system remains in place and that the remuneration practices of KCGM are aligned with median industry.
  • Lead site wide decentralized L&D activities ensuring the selection, and supporting the delivery of high quality, cost effective and mandatory training and programs, including the Graduate Program, that is linked to organisational needs and objectives.
  • Coordinate the annual Performance Management process to ensure consistency across site, ensuring the process is implemented to meet corporate compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate the provision of the Employee Assistance Program to ensure confidential and professional assistance, support and guidance is provided to KCGM employees in a timely, efficient and effective manner to assist in employee wellbeing.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in human resources, industrial relations, social sciences and/or a related discipline, or significant practical experience to an equivalent level.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years generalist human resources experience, including exposure to operational recruitment and employee relations management.
  • Supervisory experience including the ability to lead teams effectively.
  • The ability to influence and negotiate with others, including third parties and Senior Leaders.
  • Ability to think strategically and commercially, approach solutions creatively and consider organisation-wide impacts.
  • High level written communication skills including the ability to prepare clear and concise proposals, policies and guidelines.
  • National Police Clearance within twelve (12) months of age.
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region.
  • Unencumbered West Australian Manual ‘C’ Class licence.

Preferred

  • Understanding of the Mine Safety Inspection Act and Regulations, and applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OH and S) legislation.

Learning & Development Supervisor

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an L&D Supervisor to join the Human Resources team at the Superpit operation in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Goldcorp and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This is a residential role on a 5:2/4:3 roster, working 9.5 hour days.

Reporting to the HR and L&D Superintendent, this role will support the HR and L&D Superintendent in ensuring the effectively delivery of KCGM’s Learning and Development plan across KCGM’s Operations. The L&D Supervisor is expected to proactively identify improvement opportunities to ensure the safe and timely achievement of KCGM’s performance targets by coordinating training requirements and system improvements for KCGM and the Learning and Development section within the HR Department.

Key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing effective supervision, development and communication to the L&D Advisors and Officers.
  • Maintaining compliance with KCGM Training and Assessment Procedure and KCGM Systems and IMS standards;

Mining Shift Supervisor

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Mining Shift Supervisor to join the Mining – Open Pit team at the Superpit in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Goldcorp and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This residential role is on a 7:7 Roster, working 12 hour day and night shifts.

The purpose of this position is to efficiently direct and monitor operational activities in the Fimiston Open Pit to ensure that production targets are achieved in a timely and safe manner within the guidelines of statutory requirements and KCGM standards.

Key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring daily reporting of significant changes to any process or activity within the mining operation that may affect the schedule
  • Ensure direct reports receive appropriate mentoring, training and skill development to meet safety and production requirements
  • Ensure prompt and confidential handling of all direct report relations and performance management issues to assist in driving a positive workplace culture that reflects KCGM’s Values
  • Provide daily reports on production performance and significant issues to the Superintendent to ensure appropriate communication of department events
  • Facilitate and lead effective pre-start meetings by providing clear and relevant information, including effective participation in handovers with outgoing and incoming peers
  • Engage crew members in effective problem solving, to help identify opportunities
  • Address attendance issues, such as absenteeism, monitor leave taken by the crew and manage requests in accordance with the direction set by the Superintendent
  • Conduct Safety interactions, QA/QC and audits of direct reports safety interactions
  • Provide Emergency response support to incidents when required
  • Monitoring of environmental and safety practices and procedures and ensuring completion of Job Hazard Analysis’s (JHAs) where required to minimise the risk associated with the working environment of Open Pits and Waste Dumps to employees and contractors and to comply with statutory obligations.
  • Participating in safety investigations where required and ensuring that follow up corrective actions are completed and closed out in a timely manner to ensure the Occupational Health and Safety Act and KCGM safety standards are complied with at all times.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • A minimum of five (5) years experience operation of machinery in an open pit mining or quarry environment.
  • Strong understanding of mining sequence process and activities.
  • Supervisor experience, with performance management of team members, as well as enhancing team self esteem with the ability to coach, mentor and influence others.
  • Intermediate computer literacy with ability to use integrated management systems, spreadsheet applications and word processing software.
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region.
  • National Police Clearance less than twelve (12) months old.

THE ROLES

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM) is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation, with operations including the Fimiston Open Pit (Super Pit), Mt Charlotte Underground Mine and the Fimiston and Gidji Processing Plants.

KCGM is currently seeking Expressions of Interest for experienced Ancillary Operators for the Mining Open Pit Department at the Fimiston Superpit operation.

The position will see you operating Graders, Excavators and Loaders alongside 793 Trucks and PC 8000 Face Shovels to fulfil production requirements in a safe and reliable manner.

These positions are residential and will be on a 7/7 even-time roster, working 12 hour shifts on both days and nights, providing a great work-home life balance where you could be home every night.

There is also an opportunity for experienced operators seeking flexible rosters or short casual-days to fit in with current rosters and lifestyles.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Underground Mobile Maintenance Supervisor

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Underground Mobile Maintenance Supervisor to join the Mining-Underground Department at the Mt Charlotte Operation in Kalgoorlie.

This is a residential role on a 7:7 even-time roster, working 12 hour days and nights.

KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

The successful candidate will supervise underground maintenance personnel and activities to ensure that all targets are achieved in a coordinated, cost effective, timely and safe manner.

Key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and monitor the workplace rehabilitation of any injured employee within their department/under their control.
  • Participating in safety investigations where required and ensuring that follow up corrective actions are completed and closed out in a timely manner and that all safety equipment is tested quarterly to ensure the Occupational Health and Safety Act and KCGM safety standards are complied with at all times.
  • Liaise with MP and LH to ensure planning and scheduling of the activities of mobile plant maintenance technicians to meet priorities of production by ensuring optimal availability and reliability of equipment to assist Mt Charlotte meeting budget and forecast targets.
  • Management of contractors for additional and specialized needs maintenance so that fleet availability is maximized to its fullest potential to enable achievement of production targets.
  • Ensuring registration of classified plant “any pressurized vessels, charge kettles, compressed air, crane” are certified to meet the legal statutory requirements.
  • Providing leadership through coaching, mentoring, developmental and training activities and opportunities to mobile plant maintenance technicians driving a positive workplace culture that reflects KCGM’s Core Values and to ensure they are competent in their assigned tasks and to assist with succession planning.
  • Ensuring that all work carried out in relation to mobile equipment is completed, tested and maintained in a safe working condition in accordance with KCGM safety standards and legislative and statutory requirements.
  • Produce and oversee the maintenance budget to ensure an effective and reliable fleet complying to costs.
  • Liaising with Senior Production Engineer and Mine Superintendent to ensure production and mobile maintenance priorities are aligned to ensure Mt Charlotte meets budget and forecast targets to achieve the operational plan.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 years underground mining experience, with at least a minimum of 1 year at a supervisory level in a similarly sized operation or at a senior level within a larger operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems and identify potential solutions by thinking out side of the box delivering alternative outcomes.
  • Experience in performance management of team members enhancing team self esteem using ability to coach, mentor and influence others.
  • Experience in the preparation of maintenance budgets, input into operational budgets and cost management.
  • Certificate III or higher in Mechanical Engineering/Auto-electrical/Boilermaking.

Underground Fixed Plant Advisor

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Underground Fixed Plant Advisor to join the Underground Mining Team at the Mt Charlotte operation in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Goldcorp and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This residential role is on a 5:2/4:3 roster, working 9.5 hour days.

Key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing guidance to Electrical & Fixed Plant Supervisor on maintenance requirements and projects to ensure mine dewatering system, shaft maintenance, UG and surface infrastructure remain in a safe and operable condition.
  • Ensure statutory compliance of Part 11 – Winding, Winding Ropes and Signals as per Mines safety and Inspection Regulations 1995.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the maintenance personnel to maintain and improve performance and drive positive work culture that reflects the KCGM Values.
  • Coordinate, assign and monitor maintenance tasks, liaising with the fixed plant personnel (boiler makers, pump and shaft maintenance crew), surface co-ordinators (winder drivers) and itinerant contractors associated with the surface infrastructure to ensure the works are planned and executed safely and efficiently.
  • Investigate Project Work associated with the mine dewatering system, shaft maintenance, UG & surface infrastructure (includes underground refuge chambers,13L fuel bay, surface fuel infrastructure, surface buildings, ablutions, roadworks, security, underground actuated primary ventilation doors, surface primary ventilation fans, mine air compressors) and recommend corrective actions when required.
  • Maintain the winder engine and winder rope log books so that all information that is required is recorded correctly to ensure compliance with the Mines Safety and Regulations Act.
  • Train future surface co-ordinators for assessment for the WA Winding Engine Drivers Certificate of Competency, as well as Restricted / Unrestricted Platman’s tickets.
  • Liaise with Electrical & Fixed Plant Supervisor to ensure production and fixed plant maintenance priorities are aligned to ensure Mt Charlotte meets budget and forecast targets to achieve the operational plan.
  • Assist in the preparation of maintenance budgets, input into operational budgets and cost management.
  • Ensure that the scope and urgency of requested underground maintenance work is confirmed and reported back to Underground Maintenance Planning.
  • Investigate and action operational or maintenance issues as requested by the Underground Maintenance Superintendent and Electrical & Fixed Plant Supervisor.
  • Provide relief support for surface co-ordinators (winder drivers) as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of ten (10) years underground mining experience working on similar equipment
  • Australian-recognized Mechanical Fitter Trade qualifications

Underground Fixed Plant Fitter

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Underground Fixed Plant Fitter to join the Underground Mining Team at the Mt Charlotte operation in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Goldcorp and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This residential role is on a 5/2 roster, working 10 hour days.

Key accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake maintenance, rebuild and repair of underground pumping systems, fixed plant, winder and shaft infrastructure to ensure the availability of the above resources for production, maintenance and emergency purposes.
  • Ensure appropriate safety procedures are adhered to prior to undertaking work orders; to ensure tasks are conducted in a safe and efficient manner. Safety procedures include but are not limited to, job hazard awareness assessments.
  • Liaise with warehouse personnel to obtain necessary parts and equipment for plant maintenance and repairs.
  • Submit requisition orders for required components, to ensure maintenance repairs are conducted in a timely manner and to required site standards.

Maintenance Technician - Fitter

THE ROLE

This is a residential role on a 5/2 roster, working 10 hour shifts.

This opportunity will see you carrying out preventative, planned and breakdown mechanical maintenance for the KCGM Fimiston, Mt Charlotte and Gidji Gold processing circuits to ensure optimum operating conditions are achieved, with ongoing efficiency and reliability.

These positions are residential and will be on a 7/7 even-time roster, working 12 hour shifts on both days and nights, providing a great work-home life balance where you could be home every night.

Underground Plant Mechanic

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking experienced Underground Mobile Plant Mechanics to join the Mining team at Mt Charlotte. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This residential role will be responsible for undertaking preventative and breakdown maintenance of the underground mobile plant fleet, ensuring maximum availability for production. There will be a 5:2 days/4:3 nights roster, as well as an even time 7 days / 7 off / 7 nights / 7 off roster available.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Complete scheduled maintenance of mobile plant to ensure availability of fleet, as indicated by the mining and maintenance schedules. The mobile plant fleet currently consists of Toyota Light Vehicle’s CAT/Elphinstone 2900 and 1700 Loaders; CAT 12G Grader, CAT Integrated Toolcarriers, Atlas Copco M7C & M2D/352 Twin Boom Jumbos, and Atlas Copco MT5010 & MT6020 Trucks.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults of mobile plant both in the workshop and in the field to ensure availability of mobile plant as defined in the mining schedule.
  • Submit completed daily maintenance reports including, but not limited to, service reports, time sheets and down time sheets to ensure accurate reflection of mobile plant availability and maintenance service utilization.
  • Maintain a hazard free repair bay and workshop by ensuring daily clean ups are conducted, in an attempt to reduce the number of hazards in the workplace.
  • Communicate maintenance requirements to the Supervisor and or Maintenance Planner in a timely manner to ensure sufficient notice is provided for parts ordering.
REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Australian-recognized Trade in Automotive Mechanical, Plant Mechanic or Heavy Duty Diesel Fitting
  • Minimum five (5) years post trade experience in the heavy duty fitting field
  • Minimum two (2) years heavy duty fitting experience in an underground mine
  • Demonstration of Intermediate computer literacy skills, especially in Oracle/SAP and Excel
  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning, time management and organisational skills
  • National Police Clearance within twelve (12) months of age
  • Must reside within the Goldfields region
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian Manual “C” Class Drivers Licence.

Underground Miner 2 - Charge Up Operator

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Charge Up Operator for the Mt Charlotte underground operation in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This is a residential role on either a 5:2 dayshift/4:3 nightshift roster, working 10 hour shifts; or a 7:7 even time roster working 12 hour shifts on both days and nights.

This position will see you carrying out underground charging and blasting activities safely and in accordance with the blast plan.

This position is ideal for someone who has not only completed their charge up-time, but also operated a variety of underground equipment (eg: trucks, nipper), and are happy to operate a variety of equipment, depending on operational requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience working underground carrying out development charging and blasting activities
  • Long Hole Stope charging and Programmable Detonators experience essential

This key position will establish and maintain underground services, as well as provide generic labouring and operating assistance to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.

Key tasks will include, but not limited to:

  • Establish, maintain and relocate underground services, including, but not limited to ventilation, air and water, to ensure the establishment and maintenance of a safe work environment.
  • Perform maintenance on underground drainage systems to ensure consistent water flow to designated pump stations.
  • Provide coverage for a variety of mobile plant, including, but not limited to CAT/Elphinstone 2900 and 1700 Loaders, CAT Integrated Toolcarriers, Atlas Copco H1357 Simba Long Hole & M2D/352 Twin Boom Jumbos, CAT 12G Grader, and Atlas Copco MT5010 Trucks to ensure production targets are attained safely and efficiently.
  • Undertake scaling as required in order to reduce rock fall hazards.

Geotechnical Engineer

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join the Technical Services & Projects team in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Goldcorp and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This residential role will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of effective and safe production related Open Pit and/or Underground Geotechnical services, to ensure the safe achievement of budget and Life of Mine (LOM) targets.

This role involves working primarily in an office based environment at either KCGM’s Fimiston or Mt Charlotte site on a day roster, but regular field work and in-field support will be required as part of the role.

Key Accountabilities may include:

  • Implement the slope monitoring program to supply timely information and advice to all working teams in the mine areas on slope movement.
  • Complete daily Geotechnical inspections and reporting of the open pit mining areas, to ensure and maintain productivity and safety of employees and contractors.
  • Prepare Geotechnical designs and implement via contractors, the ground support required to ensure rock face stability, to enable the steepest most productive slope possible that is also safe to operate.
  • Conduct Geotechnical project work as required to ensure continuous improvement with respect to Geotechnical activities.
  • Assist in developing the life of mine geotechnical designs for the open pit, to contribute to long term mine plans.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • A tertiary qualification (minimum degree level) in Mine Engineering / Geology with appropriate Geotechnical experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in a Geotechnical Engineering role in an open pit gold mine.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in a hard rock mining environment.
  • A high level of computer literacy and experience in Geotechnical software packages.
  • Must reside within the Goldfields region, or be willing to relocate to Kalgoorlie.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.

Preferred

  • Completed post graduate studies in the Geotechnical areas e.g. rock mechanics.

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) is currently seeking a Geologist to join the Technical & Projects Department at the Superpit operation in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Goldcorp and Saracen Minerals.

This is a residential role on a 8:6 roster, working 11 hour days.

Geologist positions may include Exploration Open Pit or Underground, Production Geology Open Pit our Underground.

Depending on the area the Geologist will work within, the key accountabilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Participation in KCGM projects
  • Actively mentor and direct the Graduate Geologist(s), Field Technicians and Business Partners to ensure exploration is conducted as safely and effectively as possible.

  • Day-to-day follow-up with the contract laboratory, to ensure timely and accurate delivery of assay results.
  • Report regularly to the Senior Geologists on any and all geological, project execution, technical, safety and environmental matters pertaining to project development.
  • Generate (wingspan and brownfields) targets which align with KCGM’s strategies and LOM production profile.
  • Undertake safety investigations as directed to ensure that incidents and/or injuries are fully reviewed in a timely manner and corrective actions are identified and allocated appropriately.
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Geologists, actively participate in identification and implementation of projects that demonstrates working in an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with statutory acts, regulations and consent conditions.
  • Design, schedule and oversee Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling programs to ensure provision of timely and accurate grade control data for analysis.
  • Undertake analysis, interpretation and modelling of data, including drill samples, resource definition plans and voids in order to accurately locate ore bodies and individual probe locations for the subsequent redevelopment and implementation of dig plans. As part of this process, examine Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) data and follow up on any issues with the laboratory in order to validate results used in estimation.
  • Coordinate and assist in the ore mark-up process to ensure easy identification of ore and waste blocks.
  • Entering data for core logging, providing for quality control, interpretation and providing recommendations for future work programs on the basis of results.
  • Design, implement and mark out access ways for production equipment to access blasted zones. Monitor and adjust, via ore spotting, the ore extraction process to ensure the dig plan is correctly followed and minimise the risk of ore loss and ore dilution.
  • Coordinate the planning, implementation and monitoring of sample schedules to ensure accurate data is available for analysis.
  • Prepare weekly reports by collecting mining data to identify mining physicals and attainment to plan, and prepare weekly grade control drilling and mining schedules with supervision from the Senior Mine Geologist.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Geology.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience as a Graduate Geologist in a hard rock environment.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region.
  • National Police Clearance within twelve (12) months of age.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.

Preferred

  • Honours Degree in Geology.
  • Experience in 3D modelling software (Leapfrog or Vulcan), ARC and ioGAS.
  • Experience in Achaean gold systems.
  • Experience in managing RAB/AC, RC and diamond (surface and UG) drilling programs.
  • Relevant Professional Association membership (AIG or AUSIMM).

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) would like to open an Expressions of Interest for experienced Process Technicians to join the Processing Department at the Superpit operation in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

KCGM’s Process Technicians are on a 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off roster, working 12 hour shifts, and work across both the Gidji and Fimiston sites.

As a Process Technician, you will undertake daily general plant activities in both the Fimiston Mineral Processing Plant and Gidji Operations. This will include monitoring and maintaining assigned operations and equipment within the plants to optimize circuit availability and gold recovery, safely and efficiently.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Maintain constant surveillance of assigned work stations to ensure effective and efficient operations of the plant in a safe manner.
  • Report all mechanical and electrical problems to the Shift Supervisor and Process Controller to ensure safe operation of the plant and to maintain productivity.
  • Conduct clean-up duties where required to ensure plant equipment is functioning properly and safely.
  • Perform basic reactive maintenance on plant equipment to ensure productivity is maintained.
  • Assist in the review of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure they are reflective of work performed and required.
  • Collect and record routine readings and analyse samples within the plant for Quality Assurance Quality Control (QAQC) purposes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in a similar Process technician or Utilities technician position
  • Current Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets within two (2) years of age
  • Solid mechanical aptitude
  • Metalliferous Mining qualifications or study thereto highly regarded, but not essential
  • High Risk Licences (LF, LS, WP) highly regarded, but not essential
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate level of computer skills
  • Ability to work in outdoors conditions, completing regular active tasks
  • Must reside locally within the Goldfields region
  • National Police Clearance – valid within the last twelve (12) months
  • Hold a current Unencumbered West Australian Manual “C” Class Drivers Licence.

THE ROLE

Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) would like to open an Expressions of Interest for Utilities Technicians to join the Processing Department at the Superpit operation in Kalgoorlie. KCGM is a joint venture between Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation.

This residential position is on a 5 days, 2 off roster, working 10 hour days.

As a Utilities Technician you will undertake daily general plant activities in the Fimiston Mineral Processing Plant and Mt Charlotte and Gidji operations to ensure a high level of housekeeping and shutdown preparation to contribute to meeting shutdown schedules and supporting the optimum recovery of gold, safely and efficiently.

This could include, but is not limited to

  • Undertake replenishment of reagent stocks to ensure continuous supply to the Mineral Processing Plant for optimum gold recovery.
  • Complete the cleaning of the Mount Charlotte, Fimiston and CIL tanks, and Gidji operation in order to prepare the Mineral Processing Plant for planned shut-down tasks to be conducted by Process Technicians and Maintenance personnel.
  • Undertake Shutdown Isolation Preparation cleaning of chutes, hoppers, cells and launders to ensure shutdown Maintenance tasks are ready for inspections.
  • Conduct clean out of CIL Tanks to ensure draining and hosing of the remaining slurry contents is conducted in readiness for Maintenance inspections.
  • Set up mobile compressors for plant air outlets and mobile pumps as required in bunded areas and sumps wells and conduct regular daily operational checks to ensure continual supply.
  • Undertake evacuation of rubbish and hydro-carbon receptacles to ensure cleanliness of plant is maintained.
  • Provide input to regular revisions of Standard Operating Procedures to assist in ensuring they are reflective of required work to be performed.
