KCGM's Movember Challenge
Monday, 14 November 2011
KCGM’s Mo Bros have banded together to embrace their newest and biggest Movember team member.

Movember, the month formerly known as November, inspires the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces around the world and sparks conversation about the often taboo subjects of cancers and depression affecting men.

To date more than a million mos have been grown and $178 Million raised for this innovative charity which has changed the face of men’s health around the world.

KCGM General Manager Russell Cole said the company’s employees have been enthusiastically supporting the charity since it started back in 2003.

“We often see a number of furry facial additions starting to appear around the site at this time of year”

“Our staff are great community contributors and when the workshop boys came up with the idea of putting a moustache on one of the trucks, we wanted to support their fundraising efforts,” he said.

Many people would remember Bluey the truck who first made an appearance back in 2009 when KCGM joined forces with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia to raise awareness of the debilitating condition.

“Bluey was definitely our first choice of truck, being our men’s health ambassador,” said KCGM Maintenance Coordinator Toby Ceff.

“We all love him, and seeing as he’s actually not able to grow his own moustache, the crew banded together and surprised him with his very own handmade one”

“The reaction has been great and it has definitely put a smile on everyone’s faces,” said Toby.

KCGM will donate ten cents from every tonne moved by Bluey during the month of November to the Movember foundation and is encouraging fans in the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community to also pledge their support.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you can track the progress of Bluey’s campaign by visiting his Movember profile page at http://mobro.co/BlueyMobro.

Super Pit Lookout on the Move
Friday, 1 October 2010
We're getting a new view!

One of Kalgoorlie’s most popular tourist attractions, The Super Pit Lookout, is set to move on Monday 4th of October 2010 and will be open to the public at its new location off Outram Street on Friday the 8th of October. The last chance to view the OLD lookout location is Sunday the 3rd of October. The opening hours have been restricted between 7AM and 6PM due to the shut off of power for the relocation.

“Unfortunately, due to the relocation of services and securing the structure, there will not be a Super Pit Lookout available from 4th - 7th October,” said KCGM Community Relations Manager, Danielle van Kampen.

“However, there’s an opportunity to visit the old location this weekend, and we will be ready for the public in the new location well in time for next weekend. The gates open first thing on Friday 8th October.”

“For this move we are simply relocating the old lookout structure. However we believe that this will be the site of the final lookout, and if you visit you’ll see we have made an impressive area to inspire some creative thinking on what the
final lookout could hold.”

For any information on the Lookout relocation, please contact the KCGM Public Interaction Line on 9022 1100 or visit the team at the Super Pit Shop at 2 Burt Street Boulder weekdays between 9AM – 4PM
